There is a ECU upgrade, along with a smaller pulley that produces about 208 HP at the wheels!!!! That's freakin crazy on that little car!! I'll have to search for that website again.. I was thinking about getting a Cooper S for a while, but decided not to.

Cool, but the package is pricey......bringing the Mini into lofty territory (yes "lofty" is my word, I just noticed it in the article after typing the message).

That is lofty
I don't think I read it originally in Edmonds, but I read the link now. Wow! $4500!!!
Still, it is a pretty cool car for the money. But, with the $4500 added on you get into low-end 350Z territory.
Hmmmm.

Now, when I finally get my b-series 69 cooper project going, that will be a car that will be a death trap

I am sure the MINI is much safer than those riced-out Civics out there...

The latest Car & Driver (it came today) has a review on the upgrade.
Reading between the lines, they liked the power, but were awed by the cost.
They commented that the final cost brings you right up to the base price of the 350Z.
It is impressive that Cooper was able to raise the horsepower from about 160 to 200, but somewhere you have to draw the line.
Having said that, I would love to drive the 200 HP version.
