Mike's Dyno and Comptech headers.....

Just looking at Mike's Dyno, It is clearly that the Comptech headers are adding at least 15lbft of torque all across the rpm range. For instance, at 3krmp he added 15lbft at 6krpm he gained 20lb.ft.

So, why guys only claims you feel only after 5krpm?

Here is the dyno:

I thinks its becauz the instantaious tq you feel is NOT all that improved but once imrc/vtec kicks in the "observed" tq is much greater (pull) BTW mikes dyno seems to have some odd dips in the curve... wuz he in 3rd SS ? it looks like Auto or manula shifting... should be 1SS -> 2SS ->3SS ->engage dyno loggin -> pedal to floor for da most accurate #'s ...

Have a look at the torque data on Comptech's page:
http://www.comptechusa.com/images/dyno/2000CLSplot.pdf

The torque data they show in their table (and graph), shows only a 1-2% max increase in Torque up to 4200 RPM. There is then a max 2-3% max increase to 5600.

So, in the case of the car (and different type of dyno and operator) used there, they show very little gain in the lower region.

The HP gain at the top is basically the extension of the torque curve.

Mike has an exceptionally good dyno curve -- exactly what is going on is a very good question..

In my case, I feel some more power (with the AEM and headers) at low speed, but it is small (the wheels did much more). Over 5K, the needle just flies..

It definitely looks like the torque cruve stays flatter for a much longer time with the headers
