metallic "ting" coming from the dash?
I've been meaning to ask about this for a while. Does anyone else hear a metallic tining sound coming from (what I'm assuming to be) the cd player--whenever you start out from a stop?
It doesn't always occur and I'm not sure if its something that needs to be looked at before the warranty runs out.
Thanks!

Could be one of two noises...
I hear two noises.
1. When I stop or start I hear what sounds like a spring or a pinball hitting the plunger coming from the lower right dash. Very faint sound.
2. With the stereo volume low and listening to FM. You accelerate to about 40 MPH and let off the gas. Something is getting into the Amp and saturating it. You hear a tick tick tick <pause> tick. Sort of a "spit" sound. Very much ignition or computer noise getting into the Amp. The trick is to have your volume low so the Amp can process the garbage noise instead of true FM.
Tell me if you hear both.

I don't think so
My Cell phone usually interferes in a much different way:
Someone calls my phone.
Before it even rings locally, it has tried to establish a reverse voice channel at the request of the calling station.
This attempt usually results in a harsh buzzing "PLLLLTTT" sound, but only until the channel is established. This is because the phone adjusts its output power down for the call session once the call is established.

T H U N K, I've got it too !
I posted this a few days ago...
Make you a deal, I'll let you know what it was when fix it ! If you will do the same... can't get on it until after the new year...
2001 CL S, bought new 2 months old, 4,000 miles...
this just started:
When accelerating or slowing (both) in normal driving or going over speed bumps there is a thunk - sounds like it is coming from behind the glove box. Emptyed the g. box thinking something was flopping back and forth in there. No dice.
Sounds like an air door that has lost its spring or something because there is a little follow-on noise after the thunk.
Have tried all combos of a/c, recirc - no change in the thunk.
Ideas appreciated, it is really loud and annoying !

I had this same noise. The dealer spent two days finding it. (first they blamed my sway bars and insisted on reinstalling the original one). It turned out to be the bracket that holds the ECU was touching some brace. They shimmed it and now it is gone.
