Me vs Older Nissan SE-R

Okay, before you guys flame me for wasting my gas on racing a 4-banger, or just flat out why did I pick on a car I know I should beat, I just like to say that "They were the ones that was asking for it!!".

Anyway, it was last Saturday, sunny and around 65 degrees.. Beautiful day. I was on my way to meet up with my friends for lunch and I decided to take the back roads to the resturant instead of the highway. I was stopped at a red light, when this older Nissan SE-R rolled up next to me.. Inside.. of course, two teenage kids with their windows down started to talk sh*t about my car, and it was one of those annoying talks, where they weren't talking to me directly, they were talking among themselves loudly, so they know I can hear them, since I had my windows down too. They were talking sh*t like "damn why don't people get real cars to mod.." and "who would want to drive such heavy hunk of metal.."

At this point, I know they wanted some. So remembering some past posts on this fourm about how some of the older SE-R's with proper mods will run 13's easy, if not faster. I decided to take the race more serious and give them a good run..

So I rolled up my windows, turn off the air completely, turn off the VSA, and then put my car in D4. I was ready. And before I go into the actual race, let me explain that the road couldn't have been more perfect for this run. We had the red right, it was a long streatch of at least 1.5-2 miles smooth paved 55mph road with absolutly no traffic and no intersection. That why I decide to go for it.

So we were at this light for no more than 25-30 second when it turned green, we both took off.. Somehow, I got a perfect take off with no wheel spin, just a spilt chirp, so I was like YES I got them!! But suprisingly, he was right there with me through the entire first gear, and then more for most of second. I didn't start to pull on them until I Vtec in second. I did notice that at WOT, my car shifted right at red line almost every gear up to 4th, so I think I was okay not using the SS, let alone gate shift (haven't ever practice it, so I was even going to try it). So the result was that by the time I hit about 100mph, I think I was at least 4-5 cars a head of him, if not more.. and there was still plenty of road left to go. So I shutdown and turned my VSA back on and put my car back in D5. I slowed down to about 65mph waiting for them to catch up, but they never did.. They just kept the distance I pulled on them and by the time we were approaching the next light, I had to right turn towards the resturant, so I never got to see there faces.

The only mods I could tell from their car is that it had an annoyling loud exhaust, and I could hear some major engine noise from under the hood, so I can only assume they at least had the standard bolt-on (H/I/E). This is actually the first time I've raced my car since I put on the Comptech header, I've always just floored it a few times, but not like this race. All I can say is that Vtec feels gooooood!!!

Thanks for reading!!

Nice kill...how about you run my 4 banger and see what happens? there are some 4 bangers out there that would think your car CL is waste of gas to run.

At least they were nice in defeat and just took their defeat and crawled away. About a week ago I got into a race with a Nissan Spec V, you know the turbocharged one. Not much of a race, I had him by about 2 cars by 70 so I just shut it down, well as soon as he came by me he swerved at me coming within inches, at that point I will just walk away even though I wanted at this kid again. Fun race, ending sucked. We all lose once in a while that's what makes racing racing, kind of like when you get the doors blown of by a Z06, I don't know what I was thinking.

Nissan Spec V DO NOT come turbocharged. The only turbo sentras are the guys who install OEM japanese SR20det engines in their rides.

You are right, and I should clarify, the Spec V doesn't have a turbo, but I am 100% sure this one did, I heard the BOV. I confuse the new Mazdaspeed Protege which is turbo'd with the Nissan SpecV, my fault.

Hey gregshin, I am aware that there is a lot of fast Sentras, that is why I took them very seriously. By all means, I do not think that I can go around and race every Sentra I see.. eventhough I don't think there are very many build up Sentras here in my area.

My good friend has a 96 Nissan 200sx SE-R. Pretty damn fast! Hes running F-Maxx turbo kit. consistent low 13's.

From what I hear the engines can take a lot of abuse.

Hey dude, didnt you forget you are in a "honda" board? didnt you know most honda people think they are the quickest? I came from www.se-r.net board, cuz i used to have a SER, and all Nissan people know what SR20DE/DET can do... and the thing is, Nissan people never brag and low profile... i can tell the BIG difference once i switch...

Oh shut up, he never said that 4 bangers were not worth the gas.

Did you read the part where he took the race seriously, because he had heard that this 4 banger could run 13's?!?!?!

What is this about? There are a lot of humble people on this board with cars that boogie. Maybe I missed something but why did this thread turn into a Honda bashing thread? I thought that the original story was pretty fair?

Nice kill.

There is only one spec-v that is turbo and it can't even be driven yet because it is not done. There are various kits in development but NO ONE has one yet...so you are lying...just thought I would point that out.

Actually, I was lying, there is ONE guy with a home made turbo, but he lives in Mexico City. I'm pretty sure you were racing a 2001 SE or something with a turbo, but then again if you were he would waste you.
