I drove the coupe when I was car shopping.
Car was SLOW even in the manual form. Interior was cheap, IMHO for a Mercedes. Although, the panoramic moonroof was interesting.
The car was SMALL. Couldn't even get two bags of golf clugs in the trunk, which is a must for me.
Options made the car pricey, worse than the Bimmer 325. And the NAVI sucks ass!
I dunno... It's not my cup of tea. It's for some, just not me.

I wonder if this is the beginning of mb offering all their vehicles in stick (as an option)... hell, they offer AWD now on all their cars, who would have predicted THAT four or five years ago?
(besides you automotive super sleuths of course...)

I also drove this car while shopping. Car is small (although I'm one of the few Americans who LIKE hatchbacks).
The manual transmission and clutch are HORRIBLE. The clutch was so abrupt that is was impossible to drive the car smoothy. I am talking about shifts from any gear to any other gear. Not just launch. The electronic throttle (peddle) has very little travel and is not linear at all. Very hard to blip the throttle correctly when down shifting. It was also impossible to shift without my elbow hitting the armrest. I think that the 6 speed was an afterthought on this model... Really turned my off.

I disagree here. My wife owns one, and we love it. It has all of the major options that MBZ includes stock:
Multifunction control center
Dual zone climate control
Optical key
Key based driver programmable settings
Bose sound system (7 speakers)
My wife's car also includes:
Leather power seats with 6 memory settings per seat
Panoramic sunroof (think 3x the size of ours) with a glass area over the rear passenger compartments.
All of this and we paid 29k...
As for rear seat room, NO ONE who has sat back there for our two-three hour road trips has complained. They think its roomy, comfortable and the sunroof over the rear seat area helps make it seem very airy.
While this car doesn't speak to the enthusiasts (the AMG version in europe does) it certainly is a great value at 30k.

my mom is looking to buy the 230 kompressor sedan. she almost bought the coupe, but my bro and i wouldn't let her. the sedan is cool, but the coupes rear end is fugly. that car reminds me of when bmw came out with the 318ti. its probably gonna only be out for the same amount of time too.

I have a friend who bought the coupe. Troubles from week 1. The auto trans would not shift out of first. Then, the check engine light came on. Bad O2 sensor at less then 600 miles? Wow.
Then, one night, the car was three months old or so, we were playing cards and getting liquored up. The C-230 K was locked up in a garage with no electricity-detached garage. The garage was out of sight from where we were. Got up to take a leak, noticed an orange glow on the wall. Looked out the window, and the garage was merrilly ablaze from the inside due to the benz starting on fire. FD confirmed the ignition source was the benz.
Nice electrical system, mercedes. They must be sending their electrical engineers to ford for training. The previous accord owner, who traded "up(?)" to MB, is back in the fold again. New Accord.

My GF has one and it's a pretty fun little ride..... She's got the 6spd and from what i noticed, it shifts pretty good...... I'd hate to admit this, but I drive her car better/smoother than I drive my 350Z.....:o

don't think so buddy.... might want to check your info.
4matic on the c-class, e-class, and s-class is not considered ALL of their cars.
:P
(so i'm picky on the details)

in my opinion they are a piss poor excuse for a Benz. I've heard a lot of people say they've had electrical problems with them or little things.(like rattles). But as far as space I know they aren't as big as the Accord. for 30 grand you can have a loaded Accord V-6 EX with a set of dubs.
this is my personal opinion(and I told Sherri this) I'm not gonna get my "big boy Germen car"(like a E class) until i'm either almost retired or retired. just for the simple reason until you get up to like a " E class" your not getting the full Benz effect. grant it they got the C class but you know they had to cut corners to cut the price. and if I was mercedes I wouldn't have done this because you think of Benz you think of quality and high end car not like 30 grand POS

Haven't yet had a problem with her car... 17k miles, one oil change.
Also, 0-60 in 7.2 seconds is not necessarily slow. That's just as fast as the a4 1.8t. For us, yeah it's slow!
But you know, for most people, it's plenty fast. Again, maybe not for us, but for people like my wife, it's a great car.
It's also very modifiable.... RennTech, AMG, and Brabus has performance parts for the car.

My opinion only, but benz in general are a waste of money. I dont even see them as a status thing (but i will admit i love the SLs) Everytime i see people riding in a mercedes from the 90s on up I feel sorry for them cause 90% of them are paying out the ass or wasting their time dealing with BS problems.
In la where almost everyone has to have a bling bling car I see merecedes all over the road. And i tell you...
Honestly, 6-10 of all BRAND NEW mercedes i see on the road (still with temp registrations and no tags) all have burnt out tail lights or brake lights. Piss poor electric systems in that car.
IMO mercedes is waste of money that becomes a huge money pit.
And yes i know this is not the case with ALL of them, but damn if it isnt a good majority of them.
