Maryland/DC/Virginia Dyno Day!

Okay a few of us are definitely going to be doing this within the next month. Who is interested?!?

We will be going to Extreme Motor sports in Odenton, Maryland. They mainly do DSM performance (Eclipse, Evo, etc) and are VERY good at it.

They also happen to have a dyno jet.

They charge $80 for 3 pulls or $100 an hour.

They also will rent out the dyno for 8 hours, maximum 16 cars for $700.

We would need 9 members to make it worthwhile to rent out the dyno for the day assuming everyone wanted 3 pulls (I would recommend this as your numbers should increase gradually from your 1st to 2nd to 3rd pull)

With 9 members the cost would be $78/car
With 10 members the cost would be $70/car
With 11 members the cost would be $64/car

And it just keeps getting less expensive from there. I think it would be best to cut if off at 12 people so we get as many runs as each member wants that day. Having the maximum 16 cars means each car only gets 30mins of dyno time.

Let’s focus on getting 9 members right now though.

They rent out their dyno on Saturdays and Sundays. We need to get settled on a date ASAP. The price includes the dyno rental, color printouts for each car, and a tech to run the dyno and strap down all the cars.

Please leave your info if you are interested and what weekend in May would work for you.

Let's do this guys! If you have a friend with a different type of car who is also interested they are more than welcome!

Mother's Day weekend is the 8th and 9th so I say we count that one out too.

I say 15th or 16th.

Damn Odenton, MD is pretty far from where I am ... I'd like to get my car dyno'ed though. Once you pick a date/time, I'll definitely consider it. Most weekends are fine by me except I think May 22nd/23rd is bad for me. 15th/16th is prolly cool though!

Sounds excellent! Even though I'm bone stock, I would like to see what output I'm really getting. I also have a friend with a nice 2001 Camaro SS and we just installed headers, cats a "y" pipe with an exhaust cut-out and a new o2 sensor. He's been getting wierd codes from the o2 sensors but I think we have worked those bugs out. I can bet you that I can get him to make a pass or two as well.

I just got off the phone with Extreme Motorsports. They are going to check the racing schedule for the weekend of the 15th/16th to see if anyone will be available to run the dyno for us.

They require a 50% deposit ahead of time to reserve the dyno for the day.

We need to start getting a definite list of who is going so we can get money in on time.

I am assuming once the final price is set everyone will write a check for 50% of the cost to Extreme Motorsports and when we arrive pay the remaining 50%.

I would also be willing to put down the $350 deposit myself and be reiembursed later.

I'd love to see Vic's Supercharged CL-S out there!

Dyno Day Will Be May 16th

Extreme Motorsports has us penciled in for that day.

We need to get a list of people who will definitely be attending.

1) mrsteve
2) derelict

Please reply if you are 100% going to be there. We need a list of at least 9 people by this week.

Right now lets count on having 9 people coming. You will need to mail your 50% ($39) deposit it secure the dyno for the day. If the price ends up changing because we get more people in later that will be adjusted when we pay our remaining 50% on the 16th.

You can make the check out to Extreme Motorsports or myself Steve Geraci. We only have 3 weeks or so before the 16th so we need to really jump on this guys.

Mail your check to:

Steve Geraci
3149 Pine Orchard Lane # 202
Ellicott City, Maryland 21042

Does this sound good or do you all have any better suggestions on how to arrange payment?

It definitely will not be a late night. Probably start around 10am I would assume. Go till 6 pm. And you don't have the stay the entire time too. If you have to get on the road just leave a little early

mrsteve,

I sent you a PM on A-TL.com ... If you're at MIR on Sunday I'll probably just give you the $40. Otherwise I can mail you a check on Monday morning and you should have it by Tuesday/Wednesday at the latest.

Is club-rsx expecting a large turnout? I plan on being there.

I'll know to stay away from anything with forced induction or Hondata reflashes. Otherwise I think all of the RSX's out there are fair game for my CL-S

About 20 people total not including myself? Not sure if everyone has an RSX or not though ... Not everyone will be racing either, and some are more interested in AutoX. I know at least 2 guys have turbos.

I'm in!

Can you except Paypal? I'll pay the fees. I ran out of checks about 6 months ago, and never ordered anymore (I pay all my bills on-line).

If not, I'll send you a money order.

Let me know.

BTW: I'll post a link over in "First Gen". We may have some "takers" over there. Some 1st Gen'ers don't look in "Car Talk".

Paypal now lets you directly transfer funds to your checking account for free. So you will not owe me as much when it comes time to pay the rest at the dyno day. We only need 4 more people! Come on guys.

BUMP!

If we don't get enough people by May 6th I will call and see if I can rent it for 4 hours instead of 8.

This would keep the price about the same for the 5 of us who have paid our deposit. I think getting 5 cars done in 4 hours would be easily accomplished.
