Can someone help me out... The mant req'd light just came on wed. nite when i was driving home on the highway out of no where it just turned on i was driving normal not beatin on my car at all or anything. I still have 2,000 miles til my next oil change i also checked the oil just to make sure it was not that and there was enough oil and it was very clean i have no clue what the problem can be, my car drives perfect i dont notice any problems at all...

Hold the select and reset buttons down and turn the key two clicks, watch the light, it will click off.

How do i know if there is no problem with my car... the light just turns on by it self for no reason??

 

First off

The light comes on for 2 seconds when the car starts
After 5000 (I think) miles it will then flash for 8 additional seconds when the car starts then go off
After 7500 miles it will come on and stay on until it gets reset

doesn't mean much, just have it reset the next time you get your oil changed, until then dont worry about it

 

It's just an in your face reminder to have maintenance work done. If it was reset every time you had your oil changed you would never see it on.

 

the light means your car is about to blow up, the engine is busted, and your dog ran away.
