Making work butterfly on IM

Someone asked over v6p who planning to install CLS heads on AV6 block which is fine as we know, BUT if individual is going to use CLS IM (intake manifold) isnt there a butterfly that switches from short to long runners depending on the rpm. I heard that making the butterfly work was alot of trouble, and wasnt accurately switching.

Ok, butterfly controlled by the CLS ECU, so since they using AV6 ECU then is it possible to disable the butterfly to make the IM work fine?

I thought I heard someone was working on a RPM switch to open the butterfly valve. Anybody remember that?

First, dual manifold on the J32A2 does not have variable length runners; it is a variable volume ssystem. The runners lengths are always the same.

And yes, using the IMRC controller and an RPM switch, you could control the opening of the butterfly valve seperate from the ECU.

Gracias! And by just disabling it will it hurt performance?

I mean for NA disabling butterfly valve I think it will hurt the performance and not much or nothing on FI, right?

Yes, it will significantly hurt torque output in the mid to upper revs on an NA engine.

Kinda like breathing with only 1 lung. If you're sitting still you can do ok with one, but once you start moving (high revs) you'll get winded.

Hey pretty good analogy huh?

Pretty good, but can you adapt this analogy to why SC cars dont really need the other lung? lol

Yes, if you hooked up an air compressor hose to your mouth you can keep that one lung over-filled.

Stick your head out the window going 70 and tell me if you'd need both lungs.

That was the other one I was going for, only I said Shop-Vac turned to blow air.

For the Sc analogy: You are still breathing through 1 lung, but once you start moving you have an oxygen mask that supplies more oxygen per every molecule you breath in, therefore you dont need the extra lung capacity to run right at higher revs!

If an AV6 is going through the trouble of getting all these parts from a type s, then i am assuming it should be boosted anyways and not need the actuator anyways.
