Making fun of Acura???
So i went to Acura of Smithtown today and we picked up my dads new car. He had a 2004 Acura TSX black on black 6sp non navi. There are a few pics of it in the TSX forum. He got the 2008 Acura TSX in white with black leather (super rare) 6sp and navi this time only cuz its all they had left, and they gave him a rediculous price on it. So were talking and my dad tells the guy about my 01 CLS, and he cracked a joke from what i could tell...he said "these cars are great because there real cars not like ur domestic cars. and your car was built in Japan unlike your sons car which was built in Ohio..muhahaha"
Pardin my language, but WTF..hahah iono wierd...anyway our cars are Japan, but on edmunds they say built in U.S.A whats up with that does anyone know the history behind that, i assume their like built in Japan, but assembled in ohio?? iono
i thought that their was an Acura plant in Canada???and sum cars were built their
anyone got ideas?

so what if it was built in ohio, alot of honda's cars were and still are. the quality is still 10x better than most domestic brands so i could care less if u made the car in ohio or somewhere else

They are built right outside of Columbus at Honda in Marysville.
My dad made my speedometer at New Sabina a sister plant of Honda.
Even though they are built in USA they are still built to the quality of Japanese products in Japan. The Japanese still run the plants here and are very very strict when it comes to their cars. Thus Acura is #1 in reliability.
The only advantage to our cars being built here is that our families (my dad) and other americans gets paid very well to build quality products.
Now ford and chevy are different stories.
My uncle works at Ford in Detriot and too gets paid very well..but their management and business know how is crap compared to Honda.

Or Canada
But I really could care less. If the car is good & is what I'm looking for I'm in.
Also don't care about domestic/foreign brand loyalty. I never got that. I know people that would not even look at domestic cars, even though they could get something that fits their needs for cheap & something that is actually a well built car. They just have the perception.

Actually, many domestics are built in the US, not all of them of course, but many. Detroit still builds a lot of cars.
To me, it really doesn't matter where a car is built/assembled. All of the American manufacturers are building cars just as good as the Japanese manufacturers these days, and most are offering better warranties anyhow.
The Japanese still haven't learned how to get a truck right outside of the older Toyotas, but seem to offer many more vehicles from the 90s that will last forever.
With our economy the way it is, if I chose to buy new right now I'd have to get a domestic. There's no reason not to.

Yep, CL body and engines are built in Ohio... Accords, TL and CL's were all built in the Maryville Ohio plant:
http://corporate.honda.com/press/art...d=200704023919
Automatic transmissions where built in Japan
The CL was the first Acura designed AND built in the US (too lazy to look up the link form the 1995 press release).
If this strays too far off topic and becomes only a domestic vs import debate, it's going to get locked... You can debate domestic vs. imports over on the cartalk forum:

Acura CL and Tl were built in USA, Ohio
TSX,RSX,Integra, RL, NSX, Legend and Vigor were all built in Japan
MDX was built in Canada
Its just wierd when you think about it. The TL and TSX comes in an A-spec and is only realeased in Canada(GAY), why would they not just build it in Canada??
Is there such thing as a CL Type S A Spec?
I guess since our motor is so powerful they decided to build it here to show those mustang people whose boss
