maint. req. blink

when i start my car i get a "maint req" light blink couple times and then it goes away. my mileage is at 42,700 and i got my oil change just a couple hundred miles ago. was wondering what the problem could be. maybe the dealer just didn't reset the button after changing my oil?

I have the same problem. It just started this week. I start my car and for the first 20 secs the light binks. I have 13,500 on mine and I just got the oil changed at 12,500. I thought that the light was coming on because I was near a sevice(15k) or something. Doesn't the oil light come on for oil changes though???

No the oil light does not come on to indicate an oil change is needed. It comes on to tell you that you had better get to a garage and get you oil checked, typically because you are low on oil!

I don't have it in front of me... but if you actually open your manual look under resetting the maintenance light and you'll be all set.

I think you hold the select and reset buttons for the trip computer while the key is in the off position, then turn it to accessory and it should reset in 10-12 seconds. Something like that.. real easy and it's in the manual in case that's wrong....

Thanks but that doen't explain why it might be binking. I'll look a little closer at that manual tonight. Maybe it will give suggustions on why it's doing what it's doing.

Yep, I've read the manual, so I know the answer.

You do have the owners manual, don't you ??

While I don't like "spoonfeeding" noobs...

If you don't have the owners manual, you can get one here:

http://www.helminc.com

The maintenance light will start blinking a few thousand miles before the next scheduled "regular" service (7500, 15K, etc). It'll blink more and more as it gets closer to the mileage. Eventually it will stay lit (IIRC).

Or if you can't stand to read something printed on paper:

I have the manual but just haven't had the time to go and examin it. I kind of got on the coat tails of this thread. I figured that it had something to do with the 15k seervice.

GO SOX!!!! I'm going to miss fenway . I went to 3 games last year and it was a blast everytime!
