M5 vs. '02 and below NSX...who do u think will win???
since Motor Trend this month does not have quick tests of all cars in the back like they normally do, i relied on C&D for this one...0-60's give the advantage to BMW by 0.2 (5 vs 4.8)...can't get much else.
Here's some numbers gathered by Autosite:
Shown as: Year -- Source -- 0-60 -- 1/4 mile
Acura NSX:

Power to weight ratio is greater on M5
M5 would win the straight line drag test and top speed. Power to weight ratio of NSX is = 3153/290 = 10.8 while M5 is 4024/394 = 10.2 Drag coefficient of NSX is .3 and M5 is .31 M5 has bigger Torque and HP to win top speed test (spped limiter removed)
thats so weird if you think about it, they both cost almost the same, but with m5 you get a full sedan, why would people get nsx then !!! Ive been in an m5 i woudl defiently be rather sitting in that than an nsx.
Tough decision...
I priced out both cars with all the options I wanted:
NSX: $91,121.60
M5: $72,620
I think I'd still take the NSX, because buying a car new at that price means I could afford a second car, therefore price is no option. If I was to buy used, looking for a deal, I'd get the M5 because being my only car, it's more practical. At least, I think it's more practical. It probably sucks in the snow & ice too though.
BTW, the NSX has a new redesigned "Build Your Own" page, check it out. However, they didn't offer a removable hard top.

Not that the M5 is a slouch in the turns, but line up a row of cones and run them both through the slalom and see who does it faster. The NSX will transition much quicker, probably about 5 MPH faster through most slalom tests.
It is one of the best handling cars out there.

too bad that BMW wouldn't give up an M5 to participate in this test.

It would be close, but I would give the M5 the edge for sure. I have driven one near it's top speed and it is a beast. Like tunkz said, the M5 has better power to weight and a LOT more torque. Factor in more agressive gearing too.

I have driven an unrestricted one near its true top speed. At 6500 rpms in 6th an and indicated 187, that car is a beast and very practical at the same time.
Both kick ass though

although m5 has V8 and 400hp.but it is heavy..and FR
but nsx is made by allumium and MR..V6 with 290HP..kind of hard to say ..but i think nsx has better handling..and more sporty look...more attraction but more expensive too

I'd rather have the NSX because as aggressive as the M5 is the NSX looks faster standing still than the M5 does at Top speed. Driving the NSX is like driving a really fast go-cart, i've never driven a M5 but my friend's 540i Sport feels like a refridgerator in comparison. So what would you prefer. the sensation of speed or actual speed? As blistering as 120+ in the M5 would be, i'd get more thrills going 80 in a NSX. Now if only I can convince my friend to let me drive it again.

If the M5 is about 20,000 less new, then you could just throw a supercharger on it, say roughly at the standard 30-40% hp increase that a SC adds that is 533-560 hp for the same exact price add I would have to go with a M5, It would probably be as fast as a NSX even if it was carrying 4 people.

This would give us figures of around 450 - 500HP along with a nice fat torque figure.
That will for sure beat the NSX even w/ 4 people in the car. However, now we're talking about Modifications. Throw on a SC on the NSX and
