E55 is a straight line killa. We are talking Ferrari territory. RS-6 is next. M5 further back.

Acceleration wise I doubt it (if anything they'll be equal), handling is going to go to the M5.

The E55 is a speed demon, but its really not a very dynamic car to drive.

Both the E39 M5 and RS6 are better driving cars.

The E39 is long overdue, but in the handling department it trumps the new E55. The E55 runs the low 12s, I think the E60 M5 will be right in that neighborhood (highly doubt its going to run the high 11s).

Neither is the M5 or the RS6 (which is also a slushbox)....both are just more thrilling cars to drive than the E55.

E55 is more plush while the new M5 is a driver's car.

E55 is pulling a 12.4
they are underated at the factory because of the SL55 being the "HP king" but the E55 is putting like 525 HP
the new kleeman pulley kit is extracting like 40-60 more HP

10 second car (potential) with 4 doors and 3800lbs

The new M will be a beautiful auto imo.....i dont care much for the e55's styling. Driving any of them would be a thrilling experience.

The new M5 will technically be amazing.

The bangle desing still pisses me off, although the M5 version looks much better with the kit and wheels and fenders.

And the interior still sucks.

But the M5 will always be my true dream car, even if bungledized.

after seeing and hearing a silver e55 w/ a panoramic roof on the road, I'm starting to think I'd give up driving a stick for that beast...

The E55 and RS6 are great for keeping 2k3 Mustang Cobras in check but, the M5 will own all of the above on a road course/autocross situation. (Not that many M5 owners would actually autocross them )

IMO, the E60 M5 only needs to be on par with the current E55/RS6 acceleration-wise AND have (at least) the E39 M5s handling prowess to truly have a total edge on the E55/RS6.

just my $.02

I hate people that need practicality, but give it up for form. My neighbor has one car for 5 people in his house. They use to have an escalade, but he and his wife decided to be teenagers and forget about the kids. They went and purchased a G35 coupe. Its great to se the little ones climbing in this thing and the rents having to come back for the last one because he doesnt fit. The older son complains all the time, he said for 4th of july they wanted to stuff all 3 husky kids in the back to drive 2 hours upstate. He said he made them rent a car. He was like they spend more money renting cars than owning one. What idiots.

Serious! And who doesn't need practicality?

My neighbor's a DJ and he had an SUV which he traded in for a CLK430... and every other night I see his CLK's trunk half open, tied with a rope, with some equipment inside, and his sorry ass driving the thing to his gig. Don't get that one bit.
