Nope, it is not save to installed honda fractory lug nuts into aftermarket wheels. Aftermarket wheels usually used a 60 degree angle lug nut. The factory lugs are more of a round shape kind .

I've used the "factory" lug nuts on my stock rims, two different sets of aftermarket 18" rims as well as my snows, which are 17" aftermarket rims... and I have not had one problem with any of them.

The stock lugnutz were not compatable with SSR wheels, different seat. There is a flat seat, tapered or cone shaped seat, and a ball seat, your lugnutz must have the same shape. No cheaping out here! I didn't concern myself with weight savings at the nuts.

New lug nuts were included with my SSR purchase from TireRack. As said above, they are different and you should use specific lug nuts for your specific wheel.

yeah, you want maximum surface area to apply the 90-110lb-ft pressure and not a thin band of surface. simple physics me thinks. if you can afford new rims, then no excuse to cheap out on the lugs.
