Loud Clicking in Dash @ Key on?!?
Loud Clicking in Dash @ Key on?!?
Yes I searched and found others that reported this but no resolution so it has to be common.
When I turn the key to on (Dont have to start it), I hear this clicking noise from the dash. It goes away in a few minutes. Really loud CLICK, CLICK, CLICK, CLICK.......... Doesnt matter if AC is on or off, recirc or fresh, etc. Sounds like a relay but much louder. Someone has had to have had this and actually fixed it.

I'm sure you probably checked, but maybe the CD player? My buddy has a 03 Maxima GLE and the cd player is jammed. Everytime he turns the key foward the cd player clicks away for 15-20 seconds. Every so often my stock changer will give an error and click for 10 seconds or so. Try turning the key foward, turn the radio off, turn the key back off and then turn the key foward again to see if it stopped. Just my
. Good luck.

Thanks for the reply but nope, that isnt it. CD works fine on all disks and I did turn everything off and it still does it. It is WAY louder than the noise a CD player would make. It is also dead consistent same number and tempo of clicks each time. Has to be a relay somewhere behind the stereo
So the others on here who reported this never found it????

Found it...sort of. When you look under the dash there is an arm that controls some vent door.By pulling on it it clicked and now it doesnt do it. Oddly, no matter what combination of fresh/recirc and mode I chose it doesnt move, yet all the modes work as they should. So not sure what this little arm is trying to control. Oh well.
