Looking to buy another cl but have some questions??
I have a 02 cl-p auto it's nighthawk black pearl with with all black interior. So my question is how common is a 03 cl type s 6 speed nighthawk black pearl with black interior and navi??? I'm really trying to find one but it's rare it seems like lol I'm willing to drive a few hundred miles if it's clean and worth it.

also you could always convert a non-nave to a navi, but proably be kinda a pain in the ass, but doable
also to get navi it might be easier with a aftermarket head unit with navi, if you really want it built in

$185 for the disk. I read someone on here that once the new one comes out this month, the old version will go down a little bit but not much. Having to update and pay so much for new maps is strange to me. I have an Android phone and I've been using that but my stock navi looks nice in there.

I have a friend that work's at acura so I might be able to get the hook up on the update. Now I just have to find the right car if I had to my second choice of color would be anthracite metallic and third color would be taffeta white. Anyone know of any that's hasn't been beat up and abused??

If I were looking at a used car today, it wouldn't be a CL.
It would be either a 3G TL 6MT/Navi or a 7G Accord coupe 6MT/Navi.
The interiors are much better, and they have a larger aftermarket. Theyre also quieter.
But, theres a few CLS6s that pop up every now and then. I went up to NY to get mine.

I said 7th gen Accord, the 03 through 07 Accords, preferably 06-07.
The 8th gen is a great car. I share a driveway with one, and Ive actually been driving it for a few days.
The day we picked it up from the dealer. My brother let me drive it 70 miles home. I was
Its fast and quiet. But I prefer the ergonomics of the 7th gen much more then the 8th. For some reason, due to the seat position I feel like Im driving a truck.
And yes, it is the V6 6MT with navi and black leather.

HAHHAHA... and how fast does that puppy run 1/4 mile?
I love the color, it's just the front of the car where the hood meets the grill looks stupid.. the side of the car is sexy. i love the line it has on it going under the door handle. but the car has big curves and big edges on the back.. not my style.
I'm sure I wouldn't be so picky after driving it however. but I still like the CL more period. it holds many memories that are irreplaceable. not my particular cl either. I mean all 2nd gen cl's
I hope I can afford to have a spare garage to keep a cl in it in some years :-)... then I'll finally get the 6 speed for the hell of it.
But I'ma get myself a skyline GTR 1st... or w/e the newest one is...b4 I am 30. so 8 years is definately doable.

According to MotorWeek the stock V6-6 runs the quarter in 13.9 and 0-60 in 5.8. If I get a good launch, my CL can run right next to it. But keep in mind, Ive done work to the CL, while the Accord is stock
Theres a guy in Montreal with a white AV6-6 with a black roof (seen here: http://mickgtp.monchar.com/). Hes got an intake and cat deletes and he runs 13.4 IIRC. He dyno'd it and had around 280whp, so theres definately some potential with it.
The Accord has a shorter final drive compared to the CL so it can pass cars on the highway with authority.
I agree with you that the piece of weatherstripping along the top of the grille ruins the car though. I understand why they did it that way (pedestrian safety, and replacement costs), but it still isnt pretty, unless its black. Hopefully they address that with the MMC for 2011.

Yea, its the 3.5l. I wouldn't really say they refined it, to me it seems they are just buying some more time before its replacement.
Honda usually keeps a motor in service for 15-17 years. The J has been around since 96. They also usually update a motor once (similar to a MMC) during the life of the series. That happened a few years ago when the 2nd gen Js came out. I dont think this motor is going to be around for the FMC of the TL (should be in 2014).

but also is also alot more powerful/faster ecu nowadays, so that can help the power some, being able to run it closer to the edge while still being safe
also the accord F series motors (not the S2000 one, completely different) only lasted 12 years
and if you do the H series which was basically the DOHC version, what was that like 9 vears or something
#22
Lol.
The F series was very similar to the H series (F20B in the Euro Accord R was basically a destroked H).
Most Honda engines last an average of 15 years
There have been a few that haven't lasted 10 years (*ahem* G-series *ahem*) but the main engines (D, B, J, and so far K) have gone past that. Lets not forget the C series which debuted in 84 and went out of production with the last NSX ( ) in 05.

wow... shit now that you mention is honda RIDES their shit out.
gotta give them credit though for building bullet proof NA motors...
How is the RDX motor by the way.. it's turboed and isn't it like a 2.5 or something!??! ....so, wouldn't that be the prime candidate to drop in an RSX?

The RDX motor is 2.3l, called the K23. Its not a bad motor, it makes alot of torque. Its the same series as what is already in the RSX. You're better off taking a TSX block (2.4l) and putting the RSX-S, Civic Si, or Type R head on it and putting that in the RSX (or Civic, Integra, Prelude, whatever).
If the deck height wasn't so tall, thats what would be in my Civic, but I guess I just have to settle for the K20Z3
PS - My dream is a 4th gen Prelude in Azure Blue Green with the K24/20 combo on some gold/bronze wheels. I wish I never sold my Lude

I used to have a 94 VTEC model. I loved it, but a few things needed to be addressed and I didnt want to bother with it. I miss it though.
BTW, Sorry 1foxbody for the threadjack. Im known for doing that

I have 2 close friends that have 3G's and they've both told me that they're rattle machines. I've driven their cars and my CL rides smooth and quiet in comparison.
If my TL-S is going to be like theirs, I regret buying it.

Just bought an '08 TL-S 6MT, it's currently sitting in my garage in NJ.

The TLs Ive been in were quieter and the new Accord is quieter then that.

My older brother has a brand new Accord 4 DR, no mods, and my car rides better than his.

lol no but by all means keep your DUMBASS COMMENTS to your self. it's the transmission problems and other issues like eating 3 sets of lower balljoints, brittle plastics, thin leather, etc
funny thing that you comment on the tires, they have outlasted the transmission and the lower ball joints...

Im not talking about ride quality. Im talking road noise. My brothers 08 Accord coupe and my mothers 08 Accord sedan are much quieter then my CL.
As far as ride is concerned, of course theirs would ride better then mine. And Im sure yours is more comfortable then mine as well. I would've gone with Teins but I wanted to go lower without having to worry about bottoming out and I also wanted a firmer ride that the Teins just dont offer.

Whats that supposed to mean?

I'm just saying that I got lucky with my staggered set up, 35 series rear rubber, lowered on coils, progress rsb and my ride still rides smooth and quiet.
Quieter and better than my bro's Accord.

When the car was stock it rode beautifully. Then I got my hands on it
It still rides pretty smoothly, but the suspension doesn't soak up bumps like the stock struts did. Instead, its your spine that takes the brunt of it.
I used to run 235/35 on my 19s, and the ride was fair, but since switching back to my 18s with 235/40 (or 45?) the ride is much better, plus theres a bit more responsiveness to the handling.
OP, once again, Im sorry to contribute to the off-topic-ness of this thread.
