Long Term review: How are your Comptech Springs? Bouncy?

I have seen some inferences that the springs make the car more bouncy. For those who have had them a while, please report in.

(BTW, some things are better bouncy )

whaaaa?
bouncy really?
I thought aftermarket springs would give a more rigid, compact, controlled feel...

Yes, some have commented on them being bouncy which I don't like if it is true.

Thus the question...

Doesn't that speak to the fact that you need to replace the shocks? A spring is a spring, weather it is stiff or soft, you'll still be bouncy if the shock isn't doing it's job.
Aftermarket shocks are made to deal with the increased stress and different travel issues of these springs, you'll "eventually" blow your stock shocks cause they are not made for those springs.
That's the way to make the ride stiffer.

Nomad,

Even if you replace the shocks, you will get the bounciness.

Some of this must be semantics. To me bouncy is like a pick up truck. I've had the COmptechs for more than a month and test drove CLS with them before I got my own. Not bouncy at all. Firmer, lower, controlled. I also added Toyo Proxes T1S 225/45x17s. The springs and the tires are the best 2 mods I've ever done to a car. Perhaps the stock tires, each of which are 2lbs heavier than my Toyos, can bounce and bob around more than what I have and maybe in some cases we have people on unusual road conditions. In Atlanta, I'm not feeling any bouncing. IMO do the springs and tires. You'll love it.

Bounce comes from the higher rate of the spring. When your car goes beyond the normal threshold of the strut...it rebounds and the stiffness of your spring attempts to control it. Thus, the bouncing all-around when you hit those damn humps on the freeway that Caltrans refuses to fix, even though, many people lose control of their cars that way and causse accidents...

This is simple control systems -- is it called a critically damped system. If you increase a spring rate, without increasing damping, you get oscillations. If the car came with shocks that were already too stiff, then the car would just behave better.

If you put in firmer springs (meaning increased spring rate), that means that the damping needs to be increased for the same response to transients (bumps, turning, etc).

So, I've ridden in the lowered car and it feels slightly bouncy, but not "harsh."

I think someone should make some good progressively valved gas shocks FOR the springs.

My car is a little bouncy, but I think it has more to do with still having the stock shocks more so than the springs themselves.

I love having the springs. NO REGRETS WHATSOEVER!

I agree. My car too has a slight bounce over bumps in the road, but not much. This is more of a function of increased spring rate compared to the stock shock rather than the spring itself. Nothing an adjustable aftermarket shock can't fix

Have the springs since Christmas.
Never had any bounce and still don't.
I love them almost as much as the sways.

You guys with bounce, are you trying different tire air pressures?
