Lessons Learned - Auto Motor to 6spd chassis Swap and Mods

Scenario: 03 CL 6 Speed Motor blown.

Solution: Sourced a J32A2 from an 03 Automatic CL-S

This is not plug and play.

1. You will need the intake manifold from your 6 speed motor. The throttle diameter and collar are different.
2. You will need the Crank Position Sensor and the Top Dead Center sensors from the 6 speed motor. These are different.
3. You will need the front CAM gear and CAM gear plate from the 6 speed motor, these are different.
4. The CAMshafts are different, but only in duration (.263 vs .264). It's not worth swapping.
5. The oil pump is different. The Auto pump DOES work in the Auto motor. Leave it be.
6. The Throttle Body and Throttle Neck is different between the auto and the manual, you will need this assembly from the manual car.
7. The unaltered wiring harness from the manual car works fine with the auto motor.

8. The water neck and pipe are needed from the 6 speed engine, they are different on the auto.

IIRC, the crank position sensors cost a pretty penny.

Just move them over from the old motor. There are 2 TDC Sensors and 1 Crank sensor.

The car is flawless thus far. No codes, no surprises. Low-rev / low-end drivability has suffered some, but that's not a surprise.

I was looking at adjusting the clutch up. I see the cylinder rod, and it has two nuts that go into a brass landing. Looks like you might be able to move the shaft in or out a hair, but not enough to make much of a difference?
