Legal Tint Limit?

For Florida.....

b/c i'm a youngen and i just was thinking that if i go dark (20%) i have a good chance of being caught and ticketed, and i dont want to deal with my p's gettin pissed off bout stuff like that. as an alternative i was thinking something like 30 or there abouts. whats you guys' thoughts on this? what exactly is the "limit"?

Yo man, I'm 17 in Broward COunty, South Florida. Legal is 30% in front and anything for the back. I got 20% all around ecxept for windshield. I got an 03 ANthracite wit charcoal tint. Go for 20%, and if you get pulled over, roll down your window.

I heard form my tint installer (who's dad is a cop) that the national tint law is 35%, however the state laws override that.

FL legal limit is 28% for the front windows, & 15% for the rear.

Yo, here in South Fl, cops wont pull you over for just your tint.
Oh no?

Lets try this....

Last year mothers day. I driving down the turnpike in West palm heading north. I pass the first gas station just after the toll plaza. State trooper sitting in the grass. I pass him in the left lane, with a car behind me, & a car to the right of me. We are all doing 70mph, the speed limit. My detector is dead quiet so I know he didn't have radar on. About a mile up the road, I see this trooper in my lane behind me. I pull into the right lane. He follows, turns on his lights & pulls me over. My window is down, he comes out of the car with the tint meter, tells me to raise the window a little, & reads the tint, it's 14%. He then proceds to tell me the limit is 28%, asks me where I got it done. I said I bought the car like that. He then writes me a $45 ticket. It's a non moving volation too. I was like WTF! Only tint ticket I ever got, & I do alot of driving all over the country including unfriendly tint places like NJ/NYC. That was in my previous car, I had 15% all around. My CL-S also has 15%.

I'm surprised, I live in Coral Springs and drive around Broward and Dade and Boca all the time. My friends dad is a cop and told me that cops won't usually bother for tint unless they really need to give one.

I live in Palm Beach County and got my car done today. They told me 20% was legal, so I did my car 20% all around.

Its the same way they work no front plates, often they take a day and do "stings" and stop all no front plate cars and illegal tinted cars together. I think they do it for revenue enhancement formostly and also the opportunity to find other things, such as a driver with outstanding warrants :o

hey Ken, I live in Palm Beach County as well in PBG and I went to Tint King on Okeechobee to ask what the legal tint was. They told me llegaly you can tint 28% of some of the windshield just the top part of it and that the front windows were 28% legal tint and that the rear windows are 15%. Just thought I should let you know that.

well thanks for a nice simple answer there. i think im just gonna go with a good 25 on the sides and back and do the strip on the top of the windsheild, right now its blue and that would look retarded with black sides.

Tint in Palm Beach County

Hey Renegade, I'm gonna be awful pissed off if the cops pull me over for too dark of a tint. The guy at City Tint in Boca said 20% was legal. I figured since he was selling the tint he knew what he was talking about.

Don't do the strip on the windshield. You will only go back and have them remove it.

City Window Tint is where all my cars get done. They do great work. Sometimes a little slow, but good work anyway.

i dont want a strip of tint on the windsheild, i already have one and it annoys me b/c its blue. its not like a solid piece of the paper stuff they use for tint, it looks sprayed on or something. i dont know if they can take it off or not.

The tint installers use film and not paper.
I don't think you can remove the factory strip in the windshield.
Its in the glass, no
