Leave headlights ON, when you go to unlock, HIDs come on!
My friend kept havin his car out at night, 01 Cl type-S, and every time he went to unlock his car at night the HIDs would come on automatically. So today i asked him how he did that cuz i thought he rewired them. And he told me all you have to do is when you turn off your car, leave the lights on, they go off automatically, then when you go to unlock it with the remote they come on. I thought he was bustin my balls, so i tried it and it really works, HAHA. I didnt see this in the manual anywhere either, but i guess i could have missed it. Any way, im sure you all knew this already, but i thought hey, for anyone who didnt, like myself, lol, its worth spreading some info. LoL, but anyway Ill leave you guys alone now.

Yup... that's the way the car is. Get out, leave the lights on and lock it and 20 secs later they go off. When you hit unlock, they come back on. Don't leave without locking the car though....they don't go off.

it's normal...the car's got automatic shutoff/turnon features...
close the doors with the lights on, lock the car, and wait about 30 seconds
after the lights go off, unlock the car
this is not a fool proof feature tho to prevent draining the battery...like if u accidentally keep a door ajar with the lights on, i believe they WON'T go off...i think it's only when the doors r closed

I knew about the Auto on / Auto off for the lights but I don’t use this “feature”.
I think it’s a little hard on the battery having the lights come on all the time with the engine OFF.
Not to mention they’re on when the starter is cranking.
Plus what do you guys do when you start the car in the middle of the afternoon?
Do you drive with the lights on all day when the sun is out ?

trying to get a lil V-I
I didn't know how this "feature" until TypeS4Me showed me in one of our mini-meets in Pittsburgh. I've left the lights on ever since.
I think during the day, having the lights on provides better visibility to other drivers.
But what I love the most is hitting the unlock button from a far and watching the HIDs warm up. Girls love that shit too...they're like "ooooo..."![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
What I have experienced a handful of times, when I start the car one of the HIDs would go out. I'm guessing the gas in the bulb doesn't get a chance to warm up enough and just goes out. A simple on/off flip on the light switch and they're back to normal. This usually only happens when it's below 32F degrees.

Retired. Not available.
If you left the door open, it will eventually go off but after a long time probably 10-15 min. I knew since I left the door open on purpose since I was fixing the garage door and the fuse had to be off. Use the HID as my work light , after a while it turned off (of course with the engine off). So I am the lighting system is fully idiot proof unless the key is left in the ignition switch like someone in this forum did.

In drivers ed, one of the few things I actaully learned was that if you drive with your headlights on during the day, cars can see you 2500 feet sooner than if you drive w/o them.
