It looks pretty bad w/o the driving lights, it's like they forgot something that was supposed to be there..

Don't the CLS wheels remind you of some other car??

The 6 speed would be the only reason I'd get this but I'm not interested in driving a stick in southern CT. TOO MUCH TRAFFIC!

Hey, we set the most users on-line at once record today! 183

as for the rims... (the type-s ones at least)

go easy on Acura.

i think what their trying to do is go for a German look.

with painted rims.

previously, most acura rims, including the '01 CLs... have a powdercoat/polished finish.

BMW's rims, which are painted, are immensely popular.

it seems apparent to me that their trying to copy BMW's style of rim a bit... their just going about it all wrong. No biggie... since ALL stock rims are ass anyway. Thats what the aftermarket is for

Are the painted rims less likely to scratch, or appear scratched? That may be one reason for the change.

I was not surprised of the "minor" changes ! I've bought Honda's since 1984. They do NOT make sudden changes etc.....The fact that a manual transmission came out, tells me one thing: Acura/Honda IS LISTENING !

Dislikes:

New rims looks like Accords new ones

Front of new CL looks much like the 1998 Accord coupe grill

MUCH Prefer SOLID red rear lights !

Don't care for RICEY ALLUMINUM TRIM

Perforated leather on doors ? Come on, RICEY AGAIN........if your going to get sporty, get sporty, NOT RICEY !

I would not be surprised if the fog lights are an option !

HOW MANY LAYERS OF FOOKING PAINT ON THIS CAR TOO ?????? Anyone knows ?

In short, I am still looking for 2004 or 2005 AWD 350 HP SMG CL.. till then I am satisfied with my CLS.

Only the 6-speed die-hards would be happy with this minor refresh.

BTW, I was on the note with my prediction:

1) On Star
2) 6-speed
3) minor headlights and rear tail lights changes
4) and minor interiior comsmtics
5) rims are a bad surprise!

they nearly double 3rd, doubled 4th, 5th .9 and 6th is 7. SO basically you will feel like the car is accelerating through every gear!!!!!! NO MORE, 4th or 5th. I am very impressed at acura went with such an agressive gearing on the car. Final drive went down so top end will a little higher and we might suffer a little on the launchs but it'll be nice because the maunal and LS will help get some of the lost time back.

Yeah, I like the new ones much better. No offense. I've liked them since I saw the similar ones on the new TL-P. I was never a fan of the 01-02 CL-P rims, the look like 15"s - the new ones actually look like 16"s. IMO.

It would appear these "Cosmetic" changes (not including the six speed) are minimal to the extent that there should be little if no change to the 2001-2002 resale value......a plus IMOA

hehe oh well. Out of 01-02's CLP CLS and 03's CLP CLS, I think the 01-02's CLS is the best and the only decent looking one

4. Don't like the look of the antenna, but if it improves reception, hey!
5. Hand brake is great
6. Rear lenses...not sure. still undecided
7. Faux aluminum. NO GO in my book!

Other than that, nothing major here. I like the updates as a whole, but I'd only switch if I could get the 6-speed. Is it too late to pre-order??

Very simple - it's what I said back when people first started talking about it - the "290hp" is what you get when you put a manual transmission in place of the auto tranny which has a higher loss from crank to wheels.

It's not REALLY 290hp, it's just that you lose around 25-30 less horsepower to the wheels with the stick than you do with the auto tranny.

So 290hp is completely incorrect to say. It's just that you get 20-25 more of the 260hp to the wheels.

=============================================

Man that is one crappy job they did to it. They ruined the wheels, they ruined the front end, and they ruined the rear lights.

Good job, Acura: By using the Toyota School of Design (uglifying all your vehicles one generation at a time), you're making it much easier for me to choose my next car.

Yes, this makes sense.

Just a few more comments...

All in all, I am impressed by Acura. As mentioned, they DID deliver the 6-speed.

I, however, might wait until the 04 TL. Who knows, all I know is that Acura did not let me down.

The cool thing about this is I got everything I need in my 01 CL and the things that I want are easy swaps. I never wanted a manual, I drive in traffic too much. This makes me happy because now I don't need to trade my baby in ;-)

true, now that I think about it. I would hate it if the new CL has alot of exterior changes. Since I just bought my car 2 months ago. I dont want a stick either so that wont help me. The only thing I might want is the tail lights, im stil not sure yet since my car is black, i kinda like the solid red in teh back.

They did listen about the lights, a lot of us wanted the lights to be split like the TLs. there is a photoshop image that was done over a year ago that looks exactly the same as the lights do in the 2003.

To properly split our foglights, the rear end would have to be redesigned so it doesn't look stupid.... how it looks like on the '03.

gearing

ok, so it looks a little lame. LISTEN TO ZAPATA though. This gearing is insane. Any guesses on performance? I'll wait for some AWD, but this isn't all bad...

Hey buddy, for the second time, read wtf I said, not what you think I said:

I love my stock rims. Everyone agrees that they STICK OUT TOO FAR though, making them easy to scratch. Acura took the time to redesign the wheels but they managed to ignore all our comments about how they stick out too far (just look at those new CL-P rims).

Btw, your ride with the really dark tint makes that red paint look even better than normal!

Looks like you made a grammar mistake too. (Ah, now you edit it.)

Anyway, you replied to my post and it sounded like you're saying Acura DOES pay attention to our comments, when they clearly don't as shown by their insistance for rims that stick out. That's all. :P

Gear Ratios, Zapata

Not sure I like the gear ratios. I want a manual but not a drag racer. I don't want to be turning high rpms while i am cruising on the highway just so some young kids can turn fast quarter miles. Mistake Accura.

your one in a million.

in a high gear you wont be at high rpm at cruising speeds.

the nice thing is youll still have some power tho even in 6th.
