Kumho MX or Pirelli Zero Nero M+S?

Shopping for new 18" tires (235/40/18):

Since I need to cap my total cost to less than $600 delivered, I am considering:

1) Kumho ECSTA MX 235/40/18 classified as Max Performance with a treadwear of 220. Cost at tirerack is $142. A tires.com it is $152 -$12.5 = $139.50 with a FREE shipping.

2) Yokohama AVS ES100 235/40/18 classified as Ultra High Performance Summer with a treadwear of 280. Cost at tirerack is $141.

3) Pirelli Zero Nero M+S 235/40/18 classified as Ultra High Performance All-Season with a treadwear of 400. Cost at tirerack is $141. It is top ranked tire in its class at tirerack.com

4) Kumho ECSTA ASX 235/40/18 with load rating of 95 and they are Run Flat tires too!. It is classified as Ultra High Performance All-Season with a treadwear of 420! Cost at tirerack is only $116 . It is new tires, but all user reviews at tirerack are positive.

It is tough choice, so please vote

get the mx's and report! I know nothing about either of these tho have ecsta 712's now and they were great for the cash. I can't imagine the mx's being far off either.

IF you're planning on doing any driving in the snow don't get the Nero M&S - I still can't believe they rated them all-season.

The Kumho MXs are a serious performance tire. They are ultra-stiff, super sticky and have a bad-ass tread pattern with huge blocks of rubber.

Downside: they tend to flatspot in the mornings for a bit and wear is about as expected for this type of tire.

They are excellent in the rain and are quiet. Snow, of course, is out of the question.

Last time Tirerack compared these they came in 2nd to the Michelin Pilot Sports by like 1 point and cost about half as much!

If u are going to drive in light snow, forget the Nero m+s..Maybe consider Kumhos or Toyo Proxes 4..It has a rim protector and an awesome sexy look to it...

I was looking at the Toyo Proxies4, Pirelli P-Zero Niro M+S, Falken Azenis ST115 and Kumho ASX. All are around $600 for a set of 4. But I think I'm leaning towards the Toyos. Check out tires.com -- they have some good prices (and they carry Toyo tires that tirerack doesn't!!!)
