Kumho ECSTA Supra 712
i would guess my speedo is off 1 or 2 mph, maybe the difference between a new set of tires and a worn set. the 45 series is prolly a more rational choice but the 235/45's sidewall looks so huge to me. 225/45 is a good choice imo.

I have these tires on my Accord in 205/55-15 size and I like them a lot, great tire for the price. They are very quiet too (don't screech) unlike these damn Michelin's! Our stock tires (215/50-17) have an overall height of 25.46".
225/45-17 = 24.97" = -1.9% off
235/40-17 = 24.40" = -4.2% off
A better match would be a 235/45-17 = 25.33" = -0.5% off. Unless you want the shorter wheel for less gearing of whatever...

I like 'em.
My advice is to get an alignment FIRST if you are installing them on stock rims. Most tire shops can't mount the alignment tool because the rim guard is too thick.
My rims are scratched because they mounted the tires then tried to align.

Don't forget the sumitomos+. Tirerack $89.00 and SEars matched that price based on their price matching policy. Z rated-360 traedwear--quiet-great grip. Out the door with roadhazard, lifetime balancing and rotation, and tax=$500. Plus Sears are everywhere if a problem develops.
Definately a good tire for the money. They are not as sticky as some other high performance tires but the tread life on them is great.
I have about 20000 miles on mine and there is little wear compared to the Potenza RE730s that I had that were gone in 20000 miles.

Some of those guys need to be flipping burgers somewhere...
I asked one guy working there which tires he recommended and he actually told me our stock michelins are the BEST and no tires is better.
Hmmm i'm pretty sure he was behind the counter and not cleaning the floors there

I think if I were looking again I might take a peek at the new Kumho MX/s that just came out. They look pretty tight and are likely more sticky than the Ecstas.
But, for the money, you still can't beat the Ecstas.

Honda got a little jab over the "Michelin Energy MXV4s (similar to MXM4s) in a number of qualities and Honda said they chose the MXV4s (IMO, after the 800000000 questions: "Why don't you put some stickier tires on your Accords/CLs/TLs/etc..."
50K road life
All-Season
Low rolling resistance.
They even work "ok" on some kinds of surfaces and get another 2-3 MPG vs. my "stickies" (and it's not the width).
Too bad they squeal like piggies, are hard to find/out-of-stock (sometimes), expensive and are less than sticky on a number of road surfaces...

Depends on the make, brand, and model of tire. All 235/45-17s are not identical...

For the Kumho 712, 235/45/17, 7.5" rim is the minimum recommended width (8.0" is ideal). If I remember correctly, CL-S rims are only 7.0" wide.

A lot of people think the "measuring" width (that center figure) is optimal. (It can be, but doesn't have to be).
That center figure is the "measuring rim width", and that size rim is used to derive the section width and other specs (see one of the tire rack and/or other spec sheets). People assume that that center value is the optimum rim size and this is not always the case.
The minimum value can be bumped, depending on situation. A lot of the 235/45-17s will all show that same 7.5" minimum width. However, depending on the "EXACT" tire, there are some 235/45-17s that fit just right and others that can be a "problem".
The Toyo T1S 235/45-17 on the stock 2001-2002 rims are a pain in the ass to align on some machines.
And
BMW and other manufacturers have put tires on (at times) that required a rim width that was 1/2" greater than supplied...
It depends...
