knock sensor

I have a 2001 cl type s with 41000 miles on it. This morning my check engine light and vsa lights went on. I took it to my friends shop and we plugged the ecm into the car and got the following codes... p0325- malfunctioning knock sensor, p1768- disconnected linear solenoid and a faulty transmission. I then took the car to acura of westchester where i found out that the tranny was getting replaced for free but the knock sensor was not covered under warranty and will cost $210.00 plus parts and labor. Is there any truth to this???

HELL NO DON'T PAY!

The knock sensor is less than 20 bucks!

If you are engine worthy do the following, cuz it's EASY!

1. Remove Intake Manifold and push it off to the side, do NOT disconnect TB. (Waste of time.)

2. Remove fuel rail and unplug injectors...this is easy too. Unplug and move it out of the way.

3. Use a long extension with a 14mm? (it's around that size) and unscrew the knock sensor. Unplug, and remove. put the new one in, (yay!).

4. Reverse the order of installing the fuel rail and Intake Manifold and you're "good to go!"

Or take it to a Reliable Honda/Acura shop and pay a fraction of what the stealership will charge you.

Plus parts and labor?

That's probably the total for parts and labor....if the part is $20 then the labor is 190 or so.....about 3 hours. If they have to pull the intake and injectors that's not unreasonable.
