Might wanna think twice about the ceramic headers. The people I know that had them had all kinds of problems with the ceramic coating peeling. Just a heads up.

OMG...CANCEL your order and exchange it for SS! Like I've said before...do NOT buy OBX CERAMIC HEADERS!

Ceramic coated headers may be alright with other companies...but (specifically) OBX has proven itself to peel & rust in a matter of months! If you *must get OBX (regardless of reason) get only the SS version.

The most common mistake is that people *think OBX ceramic is nothing more than SS headers coated with ceramic. If this was true, then yes, cermic coated SS headers is the way to go, but in OBX's case, THEY ARE NOT MADE FROM THE SAME MATERIAL!

I would heed everyone's warning on this one.

I don't know anyone who was happy with the coated ones.

2 pairs of obx is still less then half the price of comptech. so i will deal with the prob as it arrises. im sure not every single header does that. they could have changed the material or not i dont know but if i do have probs i will let u know. 2 reasons i got the cermaic 1 i dont like the look of ss headers after they have been driven on for a while 2 they were 50 bucks cheaper. ( i honestly didnt know they had rust issues i know bout the fittment probs but this is the first ive heard of the rust

I've seen the rust and it's not a pretty site. In about a year and a half (through about 2 philadelphia winters) the rust build-up was so severe it caused a leak through one of the pipes. I understand your scenario, and if you can not return it for whatever reason, at the very least ATTEMPT to prep it to see if you can at least slow down the aging process.

Here's one cheap idea...remove the existing ceramic coating off (using a non-chemical paint stripper) and spray paint it with a couple of light coats of 1200 degree engine paint. Trust us, the labor you put in now WILL be cheaper than a remove/install later.

I thought of that. But judging on the fact that evilone bought the ABSOLUTELY cheapest headers he can buy, I highly doubt he would go through the financials of shipping his headers back and forth to get them professionally coated.

That's more for existing Comptech users looking for the extra edge.

Cover it in this stuff and you won't have to worry about heat causing cracks, leaks, or heat soak.

man OBX has leakage problems already on top of that CERAMIC? That is not a good idea. I know its cheaper but I dont think by much to get the SS. ITs not the matter of rusty SS and looking ugly, its the quality and cracking. A handful of my friends tried out ceramic headers and most of them if not all of their headers cracked on them. We were warned by our shop NOT to buy ceramic headers since it cracks easily. But if you dont care about the quality or dont care bout the time and money to put on the headers on and then take it off again once it cracks, send it back under warranty and do the process again. All because you want to save $50 then Go ahead. If you are doing the install at a shop. Wouldnt be more cost efficient just to buy SS. SS>ceramic Stronger wise. just speaking from experience. I aint talkin smack or I aint raining on your new toy. Just telling my stories.

Ahhaaaaaa. Warranty? Try getting OBX to pony up on that warranty. Read the posts about people with cracked welds, unaligned mounting holes. OBX basically will tell you to go pound sand.

OBX has never honored a warranty claim.

Are you installing them yourself?

That will make them rust faster as it traps heat and moisture.

FYI my OBX SS headers look the exact same now as they did two years ago when they were installed. I too had read all of the horror stories about the ceramic, which is why I went SS.

Cracks, leaks, and heat soak will be the least of your worries as you struggle to breath with bleeding lungs
