Just ordered the Mugen Exhaust.

Ordered it through autocarparts.com I can't do a dyno right after, but I will do a dyno before I install the exhaust to get a baseline run.

Man, 1300 bux, I dunno if it's worth it, but I was thinking about the Mugen exhaust for a while, but dunno if I can drop that much for axel backs, with minimal perfomance gains.

You look at the pics of it? It looks like some laboratory setup. It's got some weird piping going on there.

For sure those exhasust are well worth it. When i was over in taiwan my cousins shop did an article for a chinese import car magazine and they compared the differnent exhaust and well the mugen loop styple axle back was one of them. Its well expensive but its the only exhast that give you horses with no loss but a gain in torque as well and also the sound suppression is great on those exhausts.

Hope that helps
Jeff

Thats why I went with them. I liked how the comptehc exhaust sounded, but I did not like the tips, and I think it would get annoying if you were on the highway for a very long time. I talked to some people on the TL forum that have the mugen exhaust, and they were very satisfied with it. Check this link to see pics of the exhaust on a TL.

Wow! 1300 dollars for an exhaust. I know Mugen makes quality parts but is it really worth it. Is it a bolt-on or do you have to bend/weld? I hope they're worth it. Please post pics when installed.

make sure you add the Mugen stickers to your windows so you can get the extra added horsepower(last I heard it was Dyno-ed at 35HP to the wheels someone correct me if I am wrong)

yeah...those would be nice...but unfortunately, if you get forced induction...you just threw money away...in a way because a custom exhaust would be way better if you do get FI.

Not really. I can replace the cat back pipe, and connect it to the mugen.

Yeah..I know what you're saying...but you'll probably want bigger piping when you get FI...ya know? Just a thought....because you'll still get a bottleneck.

My prediction is a 4 hp gain with the exhaust, if that.

I heard they didn't fit exactley right, because of the odd looped piping or something. Took a little fabricating on the side, but performed really well. I'm not sure what kind of a gain you'll get, but it will be more than Comptech.

I hope Mugen does make some Type S stuff now that the TL (Inspire) Type S is over in Japan.

According to the guys on the TL forum that had them installed, it was a direct bolt on wit no probs at all.

But that's on a TL, I heard that some modification was necessary for the CL. Weird how some exhausts universally fit the Accord, TL, and CL, yet others need to be modified, like the GReddy.

I hope its not a lot of modification that needs to be done. We'll see I guess.

Ask at autocarparts.com. Don't they say some modification is needed in their description on the website? I'm pretty sure it says something about that, or used to at least, b/c I looked into them before, but I never inquired as to exactly what needed to be done.

It used to say that. I guess they removed it after a couple of people verified it needed no modification on the TL.

When you say,"FI" are referring to Forced Induction (as in the to-be-released Comptech Supercharger) as opposed to a CAI (Cold Air Induction)? And why do you think that a custom exhaust (axle back?) would perform better -- less back pressure, I guess?

BTW, the first person to name the classic movie that gave us: "We don't need no stinkin' BADGES" wins a free "Just say NO to RICERS" badge.

You know the quote was definitely in Blazing Saddles, but may have originally come from Treasure of Sierra Madre. Good call Hammer Man !
