I was on my way home from Auto Zone, when this new style Mustang V6 kept riding my ass. We get to the red light and he floors it. I do the same, throw it into SS mode, but lost. Sounded like he had nitrous. The outside was perfectly stock. I never usually race, but I hate the Mustang drivers egos.

Here are some stats on the V6 stang. All stats are from Car and Driver april 07 issue.
0-to-60-mph time: 6.5 sec
Quarter-mile time: 15.3 sec @ 93 mph
With those times a V6 mustang vs an auto 03 CL-s would be a drivers race.

 

It's an '03 CL-S. The guy had mods and was a manual. He got a slight head start and I was gaining on him, but ran out of road. I will soon be purchasing CAI and headers. Eventually UD pulley and throttle body spacer.

I wonder how they got thoes #'s from a 3350 LB car with only 210 HP/ 240TQ, and RWD.

I raced one up here in Colorado, it was all decked out in Saleen decals and body kit. I spanked him badly on the highway. Like 8 cars from 60 to 120. At first, I thought it was a Saleen. Once I stomped a mud hole in his ass, there was no doubt it was a V6. It had to have been. And we did it like 4 times. He was like "The Little Mustang That Could'nt".

If it was a V6 Stang and you do infact have a CLS, I'd start looking for problems with my car. Unless like you said, "It sounded like he had Nitrous". I'm not to sure what that would sound like.

 

He got the head start, I miss shifted, he had mods. I don't think there is a problem with the car. If I get beat by anything like a civic, then I will have MAJOR problems.

 

Dunno...there's civics out there that can run an easy 10second 1/4mile. If he had a head start, and you miss shifted, then he didn't beat u did he? Just a bad race. You can't really hear nitrous from other cars unless they have a high shot. If the manual mustang needed high shots of nitrous to beat you when he had a head start and you miss shifted, then mustangs are pretty pathetic don't you think? And you said you could've caught up, but ran outta road :P

 

yeah what are you talking about you cant even talk about this race with so many things going wrong. look, i raced a V6 stang 0-60 in my cl-p with comptech headers and CAI [which would be a little more than 190ish at wheels =me]. i definitely pulled on the guy cuz i knew he wanted to race, knew he was v6 and so i prepared watchng the light to turn green and had it in ss. dont sweat this, if a stock cls has 195 at wheels, you would have raped him!! i promise you.

 

I always gotta laugh when people say they mis-shifted in an automatic... maybe not laugh but shake my head

There is no way in hell that a 03 CL-S will get beat by a stock v6 mustang. I've killed I don't know how many V6 mustang's and V6 camero's them thinking they were fast and I straight smacked them down.
2nd Why in the hell would anybody put anything aftermarket...performance wise on a V6 Mustang. Spend the extra 2 grand or so and buy a v8 you idiot.

3rd to OP if you really did lose to a v6 mustang you need to get your car checked out because you motor must be dead or your head checked out because like stated before how can you misshift a auto?

 

IMRC probly isn't working.

 

I threw it into SS mode and bumped it into 3rd. Then downshifted again into 2nd. Thats when I started to gain on him.

i wimped out acouple days ago.
i normally hate body kits but this newer mustang was beautiful, grey with a very nice kit sounded badass, tried to race me from behind.......but i didnt want to get embarrassed

 

Yeah, I made an ass out of myself. I'm not going to let it happen again.

 

I egged on a Shelby GT500 on the 210 the other day. Obviously just to hear it roar
