Just got an Acura CL yesterday
HI, I'm new here to Acura CL Forum and after doing some reading on this forum it looks to me I made a mistake in buying the wrong type of CL. Since I not to allowed to post anything until the admin gave me privilege to I just started reading other member's thread about the CL. I purchased my CL last weekend and from these threads it looks to me that I should have picked the type-s instead of the Base CL. Is there really a big difference between these two? I also read that the Base CL has Lower Compressions and the Type-s has Higher compressions. What does that mean? What would higher and lower compression be good for? I'm not sure what compression really does so if someone can explain to me that would be great. Also, can I still mod the base CL? Or is that just a total waste of money? I really would love to get exhaust like most member's have on their cars and also headers but I'm wondering if the parts would still fit on the base like it fits on the type-s. Hope someone can help me out here thanks.
No prob having a CL-p vs. a CL-s....just slightly more difficult to HIGHLY mod...
Compression, in the simplest sense, is the pressure in the cylinder when it fires. More compression = more power (generally). this also may be good, since if you want to run forced induction (air intake), you could run a higher boost pressure than a Cl-s (with a supercharger or a turbo), however these mods are not available as bolts ons for the CL-p...yet.
As far as mods, start with a intake, Headers, and pulleys. this will free up about 40-45 WHP. Other ideas are to get a unichip (performance ECU) or NOS. Also, you could get a SC setup from comptech and do some rigging to get it to fit your intake.
Also, be sure to remember suspension and brakes. Most here go with either H&R sport or Comptech springs, tokico or Koni shocks, and some sort of sway bar combo to tighten up the suspension. for brakes, better pads are a good idea.
Remeber, the CL-p is not a bad car....the CL-s simply has a few more starting ponies than us (225 vs. 260). This can be made up with some $$ and work, however. I love my car, and it is a blast to drive.
Welcome to the AZ community!!

Welcome, and congrats. What color? I'm sure that you will be able to get all the mod information you need right here.
A lot of the mods will fit on you CL. The headers and exhaust are the same. The intakes are slightly different, but are available. Suspension mods are the same. It all depends on what you want to do. Check out www.comptechusa.com or www.c-c-c.net. Most mods are available there.
First thing I recommend will be to lower it. Comptechs and H&R sport springs are good. I have the H&R's. I like them a lot. Next will be an intake. Comptech Icebox is a good one. Then headers. Comptechs are the best, but expensive. The exhaust will not add a lot of horsepower, but will make the car sound and look better.
Good luck.

I have Satin Silver Metallic as the color of the car. Is eibach springs any good? I was looking around UniChip and it seems to me that they don't make a chip for the base cl. I could be wrong but it's a start for learning.

Like Ravi said, start with bringing the 4x4 down with some springs.
Eibach are good, but it depends on how far down you want to come....the race springs are too low, IMHO. Also, remember bringing it real low will require front and rear camber kits. Also, you can run on the stock shocks, but if you have to replace those in 6 months, you will effectively be paying for two installs (unless, like myself, you are a DIY'er). If you do not DIY, get the shocks and have them put on at the same time.
After the drop, intake, headers, pulleys.
