Just ate a quick rice-rocket...

Am just stopping home for a few mins on my lunch break and on my way home I lined up next to a Civic hatchback from the late 90s (sorta egg-shaped, only this one was kitted and had rims). I think he had the usual bolt-ons, plus racing rims. He had a massive tach on his dash to the right of his gauge cluster which made me laugh.

He actually didn't do too bad through 1st gear - maybe half a car behind me by the top of 1st, but I still walked away more and more in every gear. By the top of 3rd I was around 105mph when I let off and he was, hell, seven buslengths back? I'm sure he gave up after I pulled away hard in 2nd.

We both sorta eased into 1st gear.

I chirped into 2nd enough to set off VSA (I always forget to turn it off).

Btw,I leave the car in D4 when I race.

Fun times in a stock CLS.

NICE KILL!! Watch out for a black young guy driving a red hatchback. His car is hella fast.

Another note, Jrock you have no mods except suspension

Stock performance-wise, yup. Well I removed the intake silencer/resonator thing and have a Comptech hi-flow air filter. Dunno if that counts for more than 2hp and 3-4mpg though.

If I had to guess I'd say on a good day, my car should run around 14.7-8 in the quarter. I really should take her to the track sometime and find out for sure.

It's nice and cool here - around 45-50F.

around 35-45 you should be able to hit 14.5
a cop did it two weeks ago in his cl at the track
three runs
1000 feet above sea level around 7 pm it was 38f out
he ran once in the morning at 14.7 which was 49f
14.5 was in d5

I think he's referencing other things I've raced, not this thread.

But anyway, what does a modded Civic run? He wasn't boosted or spraying, but had bolt-ons and rims. Definitely intake and exhaust, possibly plugs, pulleys, and whatever other generic Civic mods people get. I'd guess 15.5ish?

Possibly. Civics with just bolt ons are fairly slow, even Civic Si with Turbos are slow to me. Next time, put your Nikes one and race him...

Haha! I thnink you're giving your car less credit than it deserves. Regardless what anyone says, CLS are fast cars! Civics are certainly not in your league IMO...

my friend just sold his turbo Si and he ran a 14.1 at the track. Also my other friend just traded his bagged s10 for a 92 civic hatch with an integra ls motor on it....and the kids got like money up the ass so me, him and his brother are swapping the head to a b16 head (ls-vtec) and throwing a turbo kit in just dont know which kind yet. Those are fuckin beasts, you get a shitload of torque outta ls-vtec's, plus the low compression, very turbo friendly

(that's thing I hate about Civics cause I've seen guys that put a wicked paint job on them (like 5 grand paint job) then put on a pipe and I don't know weither to race them or not cause I'm thinking well if he has 5 grand in the paint he has to have a butt load of money in the motor. but then i talk to some of my friends that know him they say it's a front.
then the crappy looking civics(the ones with 3 hubcaps) and 3 different color fenders is the ones to look out for cause I've seen one that looks CRAPPY on the outside but he has a H22A motor swap with NOS fogger system(i found out the hard way by running him ) when he was revving up to me i thought he was playing and he rolled down his window and said lets run I laughed and said alright man. ( he had me by 2nd gear(and he wasn't spraying)
