Jerk taking off from a stop...
I have an 01 CL-S, if u accelerate anything other than very lightly there's a jerk. Acura just checked out my transmission said it looks great & also told me that they've never replaced motor mounts on a 00 & up CL or TL... I hate it cuz I like taking off briskly but dont because of that jerk. It never jerks shifting or any other time tho. Help me plz

Never thought abt the torque converter, I just dont know if thats what it is or not. Acura said it doesn't jerk, I told him it does again but I didn't feel like arguing. Someone told me motor mounts & I guess it would make sense but I just dont know. The guy @ Acura wouldn't even quote me cuz he said they just dont go bad. Errr. I say I should've thrown a tomato @ him ! hehe

Check the throttle cable, if your the second owner, someone might have taken all the slack out of the throttle cable as to make it more touchy. Cause I know there is suppose to be some play in the cable.

If it is the front motor mount, look down at it under the hood and see if you see a brownish fluid leaking. If you have ramps you can roll the car up and look from the bottom, you will see the fluid dripping down the engine cradle from the mount. The front mount is a hydraulic one and in my last CL it went out fairly early. If you have another person you can watch the way the engine moves to see if a mount is busted.
You said you don't hear anything though, when my mount went bad I heard a deep resonating sound in the low rpms.

I don't have a "jerk" per say but I've always thought it's difficult to start from a stop smoothly in this car. The car just seems to want to take off. Then again, I've always had a bit of a lead foot from a stand-still so it might be ME with the problem, not the car.

Its not the mounts, if it were the mounts, he would feel it when he was shifting from Park to Drive. Like I said, its probably the throttle cable, its just tightened too much and is causing the slightest tap to make the car takeoff.

It's possible that it's the motor mounts or TC. I would go to a different dealer because they don't sound like they know what they are talking about. Also, how did they check out the tranny? They will not open it up.

Have you had your mounts replace pitts?

On this car, No. But on other cars when my mounts went, it was bad when I was reving or going from Drive to park. I still think its the throttle cable

Well it depends on which side you put slack on. Does your gas pedal feel touchy, or is it soft at the apex. I cant fully explain the throttle cable adjustment, but there is actually a plate on the back where the throttle lever hits, it should be against this and not away. Maybe someone has a diagram to show you what I mean.

I was having the same problem before I had my tranny replaced. They also changed the motor mounts at the same time and that solved the problem.
Same here.

Well I called and priced motormounts & it turns out theres 3 for the motor & 1 for the transmission. So if it doesn't jerk in reverse just forward I should just get the back one is that right ???

If they are busted, I think rather than replacing them with another set of stupid hydraulic m/m's that will break again, you should consider doing this... https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ht=motor+mount
