J32a2 New Clutchmasters FW and Clutch installed. P0336 Crankshaft code

I installed an Fx250 Clutchmasters Flywheel and Clutch and am in limp mode with a

P0336 Crankshaft position sensor A circuit range/performance

It had trouble starting so I replaced the sensor B on the transmission and it starts up fine, but I'm still in limp mode 2k max

I don't have another crankshaft position sensor A to try, but does it sound like a flywheel issue?

Never had any issues before this

I remember from past threads that they (crank sensors) can be finicky when the codes present themselves.
The only RA aftermarket pulley side equivalent available is more $$ then OEM?

Here are a few more aftermarket 'cross reference' part numbers for the CL-S6 pulley side crank sensor.

I'm just happy they're available.

Thanks. I'll see what I'm gonna do.

Here's the OEM one I have in inventory for this very reason, purchased a few years ago for $75-80.

I had that happen when I first replaced clutch and fw with fx350 and lwfw...Fix was an RSX ckp sensor. And yes I mean the trans case mounted sensor not the engine side.

ok wow thanks

I replaced the trans CKP B sensor with another one

I have a few spare cl 6 manual trans

It cranks up fine now but goes right into limp.
With the old CKP B it would take forever to start

Do you think I should try abother CKP B sensor?

I have a few

So I tried 2 other ones. The current one I have on (from a spare CL-6) starts and idles fine!

When I give it some gas, it sets off the code p0336

So it's getting better with every sensor

I'm gonna buy the RSX one and see how that goes.

Thank you all for your input

If the ECU is throwing P0336 for pulley side CKP Sensor A, why the focus on CKP Sensor B on the transmission side?

If the transmission side CKP Sensor B were faulty would not the computer throw P0385 or P0386 instead?

I understand now, I just reread the thread below, lol.
I'm kind of glad now I resorted to a LUK DMF when the clutch was changed in 2015.
No conclusive reason for P0336 - AcuraZine - Acura Enthusiast Community

Didn't you have a AEM EMS? the EMS works great for the CL/6GA, I would never go back to stock ecu unless I was selling the car.

fwiw, I haven't used the stock ecu in several years. But, I did have an afternarket rsx sensor on the cls6 trans for a year or so before going full standalone. No codes.

I thought the same thing about the ecu throwing a p0336. But, since I only had touched the trans it didnt make sense to me that the engine side sensor would conincidently go bad.

On a side note, I vaguely recall someone on the forum saying something about tracing wires only to discover A means B and B means A. Could be misremembering, but I'll try finding that thread at least to confirm.

.
Have you had any issues with your AEM EMS? I bought a used AEM V2 and the tuner I was talking with is trying to sway me out of using it since AEM doesn't support them anymore. Said he's had issues with boards going bad and he'd ship them back and they'd fix it (doesn't reply apply to me since the box has been opened and sensors switched to HALL for the 6 speed).

No, I bought mine new from P2R before it was discontinued. I switched to auto sensors and harness. Tech support for AEM products thru Holley is somewhat still there, but they're not the most friendly nor clear in their responses. I went around and around with them trying to get help with Infinity. In the end I figured out the issue myself.

Series 2 is pretty old, but it still works.

Understood & agree.
To add to the complexity of it all, it would be an interesting read if you can find that forum member's post discovering A means B and B means A, lol.

I'm even in that thread, and did not at all remember that excellent discussion, since it is a bit over my head, lol.

Safe to say, the first FSM screen shot in my post #8 above should be disregarded since brianwillard.tn's findings prove the data incorrect.

Oh man, now you got me worried. I have a comptech S/C waiting to be put on and wanted to run it with the AEM. Maybe I should try loading a base tune and seeing if it starts up in the N/A state before I install the Comptech.

That was my plan!

Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'll let you know if there's any progress

I think it's fixed! No limp mode so far (fingers crossed).

The 2 other CL CKP B sensors kept it in limp mode.

The RSX sensor seems to work fine!

Thank you everyone

Nice!

That $15 CKP sensor is a heck of a lot more reasonable in price then the new $$ OEM one below.
