Our cars are getting older and parts more difficult to locate. I'm needing motors for the driver's seat but evidently need to purchase the entire seat or bottom. Any idea who is parting out a 2001-2003 CL or a salvage yard that has the seat for sale?
Good morning and good to hear from you.
Maybe you can give me some insight. The driver's side seat does not go back and forward, does not adjust height, and the recline button only clicks. I first thought it was the slide motor but then because three of the 4 adjustments are not working, thought something else - so checked the fuses and all are ok. Maybe a coincidence or just haven't noticed all three adjustments not working. The only one that does work is the movement of the bottom seat tilting upwards and downwards at an angle. I searched everywhere for motors but none available from Acura or salvage. Mechanic told me to get the bottom of any driver side seat that works and he'll install the complete metal frame with motors without the seat, using my seat. I looked at the diagrams but it appears there is wiring in the back of the seat too so not sure what is the best solution. Since it's my wife's car and I usually don't drive it, I thought the most simple solution is to somehow adjust the seat manually and leave it alone. But even manually is a problem. Any suggestions?
Yes, the switch was my first thought and replaced it with a new one, but no change. Actually, the entire seat does not work except for the bottom moving in recline positions. That said, seems strange that most all of the motors stopped working at the same time. I did check the fuses but they are fine. I did see that the passenger seat has a seat module located under the passenger seat. You think that the module is somewhat interconnected with driver's seat? It's just hard to believe that most motors are not working at same time. Car is always garaged and nobody messed with seat. As a last resort, is there a way to adjust seat manually and then not mess with it? The seat is too far back for my wife's comfort and very difficult to see under the seat.

I know of no 'manual' way to adjust either the driver or passenger power seats.
Apparently, if you read up (FSM page 22-301) on the driver side driving position memory system, there is a 'self-diagnostic' function that throws DTC's if something is wrong.
The caveat is that the battery has to have been connected and not disconnected, since the seat issues began, to have any code(s) stored in the driving position memory system to read.
You'd have to follow the procedure provided to extract the 'DTC(s)' and then use the DTC index table to help narrow down what may be going on?
With that said, I just looked at my driver side seat, in the full 'rear' position, from the passenger side and it appears one may be able to still get at the two rear plastic panels (red arrows) that cover the bolts for removal. Though, it's not going to be fun. The front two bolts (purple arrows) securing the seat will be easier to access.
Every 'A' you see, on the diagram below, indicates a seat mounting bolt.
No matter what, if there is any work to be done to fix this issue, the seat is going to have to be removed.
It may be one of those situations where the Acura dealer may be needed?
