It's only a car...
I know it's bad to think/say/write this but tonight... MY 3.2 CL Type S saved my life! She's prob gone. I don't know if they're gonna total her out. But from the looks of the damage, it might just happen. The cop and I estimated the damage at around 10k. I WALKED out of the crash and sustained NO injuries! So I am proud to say that my VSA worked FLAWLESSLY at helping me hit the old piece of $hit pickup truck in the back end instead of plowing straight into him. His truck... an old 1987 Ford F150... my CL DENTED his back fender... yet it ripped the hood off my car and destroyed my car... i cried. I don't know how I'm gonna go on without her.
RIP my '02 CL....
RIP my '02 CL....

Thanks
Thanks everyone! I appreciate your best wishes. I have read posts like mine in the past and thought, man i hope that never happens to me. It's so scary when it does happen to you though. My first thought was, take pics for Acuracl.com's forums...

P. S. I JUST ordered a new Lip Spoiler painted to match my Satin Silver Type S... Does anyone know of anyone who might need it? It has YET to be delivered but the seller offers NO refunds for any reason. Ha, my luck huh?! Thanks.
(I know this belongs in the "for sale" portion of the forums but it's oddly relevant to this original post).

glad your ok, its scary bc those trucks are high, you can see it didnt even smash your bumper, but went right over.
even if they dont total it, i wouldnt feel confident repairing that, too many things to fix and that will never be right again.
good luck with the settlement, hopefully they dont get you for hitting him in the back, at least try to prove you were swerving/braking in an attempt to avoid the accident.

damn...yeah, sorry to hear about the car and glad bodily injury wasn't a factor.
it definitely looks like a total loss to me. Be happpy that there are a lot of choices for new cars out now.

Glad you're ok...
It actually doesn' look that bad... Since it's high up, there's probably not any suspension damage, and as long as the engine is ok, they might be able to just put a 3/4 nose on it...
It takes about 80% to total a car out, and the value of a 02 with average miles has got to be over 12K. 80% of 12K is 9600... so even if there is 10K worth of damage, it still might not be totaled...
After looking at the pics again, the passenger door gap looks off, so the front end must be tweeked... they can work miracles on a chassis jig to straighten that stuff out...
I think it's going to be real close on weither or not it's totaled...

Yeah it will be close. Looks like it may need a new side member, bumper, hood, headlight and right fender + liner and paint etc. Your windshield isn't even cracked(at least it doesn't in the pics. If your airbags deployed that would have been another story because those bitches are expensive. Are the seatbelt pretensioners triggered if the airbags don't deploy?

When the hood came flying up at the windshield, it put a deep scratch in the windshield. So that's gotta be replaced... the sunroof glass and top of the car sustained scratches. air intake, ac condensor, radiator, headlight assembly... ya... new rims we added it all up and it's prob at around 10k for repairs. And for the record, i hit him but HE was ticketed for failure to yield... So.. I should come out ok with the insurance adjuster because it was NOT my fault, and I'm the victim. I loved that car...

Happy to know you made it out ok.
As for the car, well, you are right. It's just a car, and it's replaceable. Keep us updated on what happens with it.
EDIT: Was that the truck in the background??
EDIT #2: Also, now that I think about it... if you include labor and everything, replacing that headlight & ballast will cost somewhere between $500 & $1,000 itself. Hard to say whats going to happen.
