The puleys don't make that big of a differance. The average driver wont notice. I prefer the AEM, but the AEm and Injen are very similiar. I don't belive that compthec makes an Intake.

Fan of InJen CAI
I got the InJen since it was 20 bucks cheaper and the shop guy said that there's no difference. The filter on the InJen is better than the AEM I think, although they may both be K&N. It's been great so far. It doesn't make hardly any noise until 5000 rpm and then the sound is not too loud and very nice. The sound above 5000 used to be a whirling hum, now it's more of a low tone growl and it sounds meaner and sweeter. Get the CAI, make sure it's the 3" set-up, get the air bypass filter. For the InJen, you can cut the pipe up top or just above the side holder bolt part.

I have an Injen I installed myself, somewhere on this board this is step by step directions. Do a search for intake.
Anywho, your car will sound bad ass once it's installed. The idle is quiet exceptwhen the car is cold you will hear a suction noise.
Once it's warmed up and you hit V-Tech
oooohhh man sweetness.

When the car is cold, my intake makes a whistling/whooshing-type sound when changing gears. I love it because I can pretend that I have a blow-off valve or something...

i have the AEM CAI. i love it..the sound is unnoticeable unit 4-5k RPM, then you get the growl. It doesnt sound rice to me.
The only time other than that that you can hear the CAI is on a cold morning and you just start you car up.....it i kinda like it is sucking up as much air as possible for a couple of minutes, but once you get moving, you ca barely notice it. Once the car is warm...the sound goes away and comes back only when you want it too....which is quite often once you hear and feel the CAI once!!!
Go with the RED AEM..looks nice as hell

Did you notice any power-loss (if you installed the bypass filter after your initial AEM install)?
I now have the AEM Bypass valve (in hand) and the inside of the valve is NOT the same diameter as the pipe (V shape on the inside too!). I checked the bypass valve by gently sucking in on it with the opposite end blocked; it opens, to the outside air, with the slightest suction (It also leaks out a bit too!). This “suggests” that “some” amount of hot air will mix with the colder air from the K&N (mounted down low).
I sure would be interested in a before-and-after impression of its install.

Wouldn't CAI HELP fuel economy?
Since the air is colder, the fuel burns more cleaner and efficiently and thus better gas mileage??? I thought the only reason you get less is because you probably floor the gas pedal more now...

bluetypes.
The heat shield is to block away that hot, power robbing heat the engine emits. Technically the intake should be directed to a hole in the front end, so the cold air hits the filter directly.
Also an ECU for the intake, to adjust the amount of gas the engine needs as the intake opens up.......

blah.. that v-tech is only 900mhz. If you don't have 2.4ghz DSS, then you aint got nuthin!
my ear dyno feels more power off the line with the 2.4. Those 900mhz are lacking in the high-end power.

You are correct about any "probable" MPG gains being negated with the application of a lead foot!
BTW -- the cold air would be denser and the car's computer would compensate by increasing the fuel delivered. It is possible that the emissions could change with temp -- but it would need testing on OUR car!
