From what I can tell, the bulb in the dash for the instrument panel brightness is working fine but the dimmer doesn't dim OR brighten the lights.

Any ideas?? My car has had this problem for the 4 years I've owned it and I'm sick and tired of it!

PS -> I pulled the fuse and it took out the dash lights completely, as to be expected, so I know the issue isn't the bulb.

yea check the wires on the switch and run a voltage drop. Maybe some resistance?

 

also could be a break in the line like chineseguy said. thats why I love my 10 dollar voltmeter.

 

Well, stupid me didn't ever reconnect it when I took apart the dash years ago. Either that or it was disconnected prior (def possible) - I can't remember and it doesn't matter - I hooked it back up and it works lol
