Independent Throttle boddies?

Anybody ever do independent throttle bodies? I saw a vid of an S2K once with thenm, sounded hellish! I'd imagine it would add a bit of power too.

It's great for throttle responce! ITB's can be cool, but hell to adjust if you are using a mechanical actuator instead of and electrical servo. The BMW E39 M5's use them. I think the new V10 M5 does also.

Kind of like triple duece carbs are a pain in the ass to sync.

I would venture to try it, but I am worried about letting dust into the engine. Is there something else besides the little screens that prevent the intake from getting damaged?

They make filters for them. Or you could fabricate a box to enclose them.

How much money are you trying to spend?

That guy ended up moving from Alabama to VA and is still in the process of building his car (he actually has a build thread on the TL side, same screen name). I believe the project was just put on hold.

Look at the S62 engine in the E39 M5. It has ITB's and a container holding all of them and it has a lid that covers them and seals them so you can use a regular air filter.

Maybe it will give you a idea of some of the things you can do to filter the air when running ITBs. You could biuld a box that fits over the ITB buy seals around the or a velocity stack and seal it with a single large ait inlet to the box and incorporate a air filter.

Seems we posted at the same time.

This is the air box they use in F1.

Instead of having the massive inlet, you'd have an opening where youd attach an intake tube. You may lose a bit of power that way though.

Here are the filters I mentioned:

You can do something like this

Or something like this

Uni makes pod filters in many sizes that would be good for this. I use them one of my motorcycles.

Also forgot to mention that to get the most out of the ITBs you will need cams and a standalone.

It would be interesting to see, just seems like too many headaches and cash for what you get out of it. Seems a bit extreme for cl but who am I to talk.
