Funny thing u say that. i ran out of oil today on the way home from work
that little light was blinking so i pull over and check teh level. just barely shows on teh dipstick
pour in 3 quarts of oil all good. but the oil is black. never see it that black before in my life in any car that ive worked on (or truck). damn bent valves. still beat the shit out of the car.

then
from the catch can to a T and from that T one hose to the front valve cover and one the the back. all done. does the job of two catch cans. and saves u money

no, front one doesnt let fresh air in. works just like the rear one . so, run a hose from the front valve cover to a T then from the rear valve cover to the same T then from that T to the catch can.

and the rear has vacuumed applied to it, especially under engine braking (actually any time the TB is partial closed, there is a vacuum applied to it; even at WOT throttle there will be an ever so slight vacuum at it because of the TB causing a slight restriction), also the PCV is basically a check valve with a metered orifice for the correct amount of crankcase vapours for the motor

Whats up with RDX owners?

Ive honestly never seen any oil come out of the front VC vent. Only the rear PCV.

Rajca, you have the front VC vented to atmosphere right? Have you noticed any oil in your breather filter? If not, then you definately don't need the catch can on it.

so when the car is idling or driving or WOT. its not pulling any fumes? bc then the engine wouldnt pull any air if that was the case. unplug the hose that goes from the intake to the valve cover, if u get suction where u unplugged the hose, it pulls some fumes from the valve cover. might not be as much as the rear. but still does
another question, why have a vent on teh front valve cover????? theirs got to be a reason

but also you gotta be able to exchange all the air in the crankcase at some point eventually
and try covering the pcv valve hose with your finger with it idling, will be a good vacuum then, and as said the pcv valve is a metering orifice for the vapors, so the reason for the lower vacuum at the front valve cover, never able to pull full vacuum on it

and what do you mean by a "open" pipe, it needs to have some type of filter to prevent dirt from going in there (be just like pouring dirt into your oil fill port, just slower though)

i mean the open "spot" coming out of my intake pipe.... right?
cause if i just slap a filter onto the valve cover, Ill have the side on the intake with nothing attached... which is goofy if you ask me, plugging an orifice or having too many. just isn't my preference
