The importance of a oil catch can

breather is in no way emissions legal, but a catch can can be (depends on how much the inspecter wants to be an ass), but it still should be cause you are not disableing the crankcase ventultion with it being reburned by the engine, you just happen to be adding an expansion chamber to it
also i just noticed you are in cali, and because it does not have a CARB exempt sticker, you might have to put it back to stock every time you want to pass emissions

should be pretty easy to swap back and forth since its just held on by some hose clamps. Trouble is trying to mount it away from heat since the polycarbonate container is only rated to 140F

I have had mine zip-tied to thee strut tower bar right behind the intake for a few months with no issues.
Keep in mind that it is a small container, so you have to keep an eye on it and make sure to empty it every now and then.

15/16" IIRC
Make sure what you get is rated for fuel/oil.

I was thinking of ordering http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT this can. Will I need new tubing also and what/where can i buy it?

wham bam thank you ma'am

i had that same exact one. i used my own hoses bc those blue one look like shit and then u need an adapter that goes from 3/4" (for the front valve cover, i think its 3/4") to the inlet size of the catch can. i picked up an adapter at murrays. forgot which one. now i just have a breather. no catch can

because it coats everything in the intake, also helps to contribute to carbon buildup on the valves and such (but a quality oil will also help prevent that, from less fuming and such)
also on a FI car with an intercooler, it can coat the intercooler, which then in turn loses efficiency, which means hotter intake air charge temperature, so less power; so it can easily be HP related when you got an intercooler

Hmmm. Mine doesnt leak. If I press the little pin on the bottom it will leak.
BTW, you did remove the filter from the housing right? They aren't oil/fuel-safe and they were degrade. I pulled mine out because I didn't want anything of it getting into my motor.

so like this:
http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1...atalogId=10053
and that might even be the correct size IDK, you would have to check that
OR
a standard pipe plug (think oil drain bolt)
personally i would go for that valve, with a nipple attached, so you can run a hose down to the bottom of the engine bay, so then no worries of making a mess (drain hose would be good near the oil drain, so as you are draining the oil, you can just open the valve and have every thing go into the drain pan)

I tried a few things with the original spring valve but i think im gonna end up chucking that and replacing it with a metal hole cover. Or a rubber cork.
that valve looks cool but my hole is small, probably only the diameter of a pencil. I'll try to just plug it then unscrew the bowl when i need to empty it.
Yea, i removed the filter element.

valve is only for a 1/4" hole, picture is just LARGER then life size, so should work just fine, but your hole might also be 1/8
so to figure it out, take the bowl down to home depot and test fit a valve or two, and buy the one that fits; PROBLEM SOLVED
(also you don't need a full port one, that just the acutally opening on the valve itself, so you can get away with a standard port one [that was just the first one i found], and you pay more for a "full port" valve anyways)

but still easy enough, just stuff some RTV sealent up the hole , let it cure/dry/harden (whatever you want to call it), then problem solved
and to seal it up from inside the bowl, just put a little dab on your finger and stick your finger to the bottom and smear it a little

so getting one catch can is only 1/2 the battle... technically we need 2 catch cans, one for each valve cover. So i shall order 2 catch cans then.
Sall good.. this stuff helps emissions out i'm SURE... and prevent much of that oil burning at WOT i'm sure.
Just gotta decide which color and size catch cans to get.

see flamerboy's comment
as long as they fit, they would be better due to the larger size, (aka it takes longer for the air to pass through, so more time for it to separate that last bit of oil), plus it just means you won't have to drain it as often

expensive shit though, but love how it comes in the aerosol can, makes it easy to spread out easily and even
but you can get a tube of rtv sealent for less $5, compared to like $15 for the hondabond, since he only would need a couple dabs of the stuff
