Bad move. The new gen S4 will be out in about 18 months. That will cause your S4's resale value to decrease dramatically. Get the new A4 3.0 coming out later this summer.

The S4 looks good, and is fast. I would do it in a sec.

Do you mean the new body style S4 or the outgoing one? You might be able to get a good deal on the outgoing model, but if you want the next model, put down your deposit NOW.

Coming from an owner of VW Jetta's VR6, Passat and Audi A4 2.8quattro, I would not do the swap for a S4 not because of the new model but because there is a history of problems with the 2.7 bi-turbo engine. I still own my Jetta and Passat but I traded the Audi becuase multiple problems and customer service is not up there with ACura. BTW i do own a 3.2 CL-S and i did consider the S4 but is freaking more than 41k when you add ttl. If you are going to take the plunge on the S4 concider the BMW 330Xi stand for all wheel drive and it does very impressive numbers with a inline 6 (0-60 in 5.8) and make some minor mods and you can be doing 0-60 lower than the S4 5.5sec. BTW the Audi Dealers don really negotiate with the S4.

I am a passionate VW and Acura owner

Well thanks for the replys. I'm going for the current body style. As for the problems with the car thanks for the input. I'm still looking but the S4 is my choice as of this moment. I'll check out the 330 and some others.

Didn't someone just post a topic about an S4 with two blown turbos?

Also, the interior of the new A4 looks cheap and the shifter is in the way of the navi. Also, I guarantee you won't be able to see that engine in the real car--Audi has a way of covering every last square inch of engine bay with a plastic cover to keep you from seein their engines.

Hell yeah I want an M3 but I don't know about the dealer mark up though I wouldn't mind a BMW but for all the goodies it gets a bit pricy. Thanks for the Pics. That car looks sweet is that a 2003 or late model 2002. Thanks

Wow, the Audi center console looks ghetto as heck. Boooo.

Btw, anyone else wonder what gear you have to be in to enable sportshift on that thing? Looks like first. Guess you can't take it outta fifth and drop it to 4th or 3rd with sportshift like we can.

I kinda like the way that Audi looks, however I do have to agree that the interior in this particular model looks cheap and dark. However, generally Audis interiors are very nice, much much better than BMW.
S4 is a much better choice than a CLS however, not much room in the back and you might regret not having the current bodystyle.

You should really consider other makes. As some of the others have pointed out, there is a serious reliability problem associated with Audis in general. I know it looks great and runs fast, but......

I think Audio has a really nice interior. I would take the current model over the new model thats coming out. That thing is ugly.

Well I just bought my CL-S off a guy whos buying an S4 ! I don't have any S4 Experience or Knowledge other than what he has told me and what I've read.

It's an Excellent Car, plenty fast. I've noticed that the Car has some Turbo Problems however, but that's just from what I've read !

I'm Totally happy with mY CL-S. I don't think going .7 secs faster could make me any happier in the S4. Just my 2cents

Good luck

see I think the next model is sweet. I really like it . I would love a yellow S4 but the reliability is questiuonable. I would even consider a 99 or 2000 M3.

I can't argue with this idea at all. I'm selling my CL-S and getting an A4 1.8T. Yes, it's slower (both stock, in a straight line), it's smaller, and probably not as reliable... but I like it more. I considered the S4 as well, but decided the 1.8T is plenty enough engine for me. As for the new design... well, I'm buying an A4 now because I am not crazy about how the new one looks in pictures.

Yeah, the value of an A4/S4 may drop when the 02's come out (BTW the S4 is not expected to adopt the new body style for at least 2 model years), but the car is a depreciating investment anyhow. If you're going to spend big money (30+) you may as well enjoy it, IMO. If you're not into the clutch thing, maybe hold out for the CVT coming out in the new A4. Supposedly more efficient and better performing than the manual, but available only in front-trak at first.

And as far as the .7 second spread in 0-60... if that is the biggest difference you see between the cars, the A4/S4 is probably not your cup of tea .

Actually I like the new AUDI. Don't know if it will look better than the currrent S4 or not, but not too bad. I also like the interior. Why do you guys think it looks cheap? I think it alsmost look like an A8 interior.

I like the S4, but its so dated...I hate getting a car, then a full redesign coming out a few months later (whether it looks good or not)....I happen to have looked closely at the new A4 at the NY Auto Show and thought it looked great in person, had a nice edgy look- not too round...wheels looked very nice, dual exhausts were a cool touch.

Sales won't slump, the car will sell very well....Audi has a big following now.

Nicely said Harmon. If the .7 sec difference is what makes you get the S4, you shouldn't get it. S4s are awesome in my opinion. I was about to get one before the CL, but price difference was too much. If I could have had the S4 for 37, (no easy task) it would be in my garage right now. Interiors are very nice, as in every Audi. Also, someone asked about the auto trans. They said that it look like you have to be in 1st gear to engage Tiptronic (sport shift). Well it only looks like that because the new Audi autos don't have those gears. They just have P,N,R,D, and Tiptronic. Supposed to be really effecient and performance enhancing. But if you can, pick up an S4, even the old body. And please get a manual. If you want the auto, dont bother. Stick with the CL.
