Ignition systems, how come no one ever installs them?

I used to work with a guy who told me that aftermarket Ignition systems do nicely for any car, increase HP and mileage. I never hear anyone installing one in their car. How come?

As soon as there is something out there that has a benefit for our cars, someone will install it.

The CL also uses coil on plug. Not the traditional cap & wires ignition. Almost no one makes upgrades for a coil on plug design. By design they are high voltage anyway & have almost no loss.

After market ignitions were great back in the days of points & condensers. I swore by the Allison optical unit I used. They're pretty much obsolete now with modern engine management systems and fuel injection.
