well what is the top speed for 3rd gear for the 6 speed? i know the Z tops out at 85 mph in third. but with all the 6 speeds cl-s and Z they all have a trap speed of 95+ which means the z has to finish in 4th gear! i was just curious if it was the same for the 6 speed cl-s...

oh yeah has anyone mis shifted in there 6 speed? if so what gear was it? i have mis shifted twice in the Z going 3-4 i accidently went 3-2, luckly it was normal cruising speed but i just cant believe its so easy to mis shift...

I shift to 4th just after crossing 90 MPH.

And yes, I have missed a shift before. Listen for it just before crossing the line at the end:

Missed Shift

I wan't shifting hard so never got fully out on the clutch; just enough to bring them up to about 8k on an unloaded engine.

which gear did you mis shift in?

i thought it was hard to mis shift because its hard to put the stick into a small gear at higher speeds???

I was less worried about the tranny and more about the engine. Valve float can occcur at those revs...

I went to grab 4th, from 3rd, and wound up in 2nd. No resistance to entering that gate. It hasn't happened since or will ever happen, fingers crossed...

that is exactly what happen to me in the Z. i was crusing and was going into 4th from 3rd but ended up in 2nd. was a little scary because i didnt realize that i pulled towards the left and not straight back. im just afraid that i might do this when im doing some spirited driving when the road is a little curvy. i mean your body moves when you turn so its kind of hard to put the stick in the right gear when you are moving around, or at least its hard for me. maybe i need more practice, but i didnt think it would be that easy to mis shift 3-4

Think of it this way, putting an effort to the right might take you into 6th but that is certainly better than the alternative...

3rd will take an automatic CL-S to just over 110 MPH. 3rd in the manual is good for just over 90 MPH.
