Back in college my boy used to have an 89 black GT mustang. I think all head added was flow master exhaust. This was the first car i'd learn to drive stick on and it was sssssiiiiiccckkkkk. Since i'm not a big fan of the new mustangs, i'd have to say i'd go with that year or maybe an older one. Whats your fav?

Like mid 60's or even like early 70's. I wouldnt drive a mustang unless it was like a classic

Give me a 1964-1/2 and I'll sell it, buy a new SVT and pocket the change.

If I'm in the mood for classic, I'd go with a '64 or '65 convertable. But if I'm in the mood for a muscle car, I'm thinking Mach 1.

The GT500 was an awesome car, no doubt...but it's almost become cliché with all the exposure (the hype in Gone in 60 Seconds did a great disservice in my opinion)

Yeah but AcuraFan, how many times have you actually seen one on the road? I've only ever seen 1 at a Home Depot no less.

03 cobra is the fastest production mustang to date. The only car that was close is the Cobra R with 385HP, and no AC. I would have to say the 2005 will be the one for me.

Probably not. Ford likes to pimp a new bodystyle first, then offer the SVT model later.

eleanor or an o3 cobra. if they had an 05 cobra out that would probably be my best pick. but choosing the 05 is like choosing a reconditioned classic, old look but modernized.

1965 or 1966 GT350H Hertz Rent-A-Race-Car. Look it up.

Or a 1965 GT convertible "K code". But the Hertz wins hands down for me.

Whoa!! That's a blast from the past. I think that was the WORST generation Mustang ever produced. As a matter of fact, there were NO decent Fords in production during the mid-late 70s.

Peace.

1. 1999 Saleen Mustang SC351 (495hp/500tq)
2. 2000 Cobra R (395hp/400tq)
3. 1968 GT500

I am more into the late model's, but there are some killer looking mustangs from the mid-late 60's.

Still faster than the 75-86 equivalent of the GT, however.

No really, the the mid-late 70s Mustangs WERE the worst. As in, Stangs didnt really return to prominence until the newly styled 1987 4.9L EFI (EEC-IV) models appeared. (Though Ford showed flashes of potential with the SVO during the 84-86 model years: Turbo 2.3L I4)

Interesting

The word is that the production 2005 Mustang looks very similar to the concept cars with the following exceptions. There will be no hood scoops on the V-6 or GT models. The 2006 Cobra may get functional hood scoops. The production version will seat four. The side scoop won't be a scoop at all; it will be a scallop, and fully integrated into the side stamping. The roof will be standard stamped steel--no glass. The quarter panel will have glass instead of body colored insert--rear visibility would've been awful. The convertible won't get the rollbar, and the windshield will be taller. The taillights won't be as wide, and they will have a tri-cell design like 1999-2004 taillights. They will flash sequentially. The concept cars have 20" wheels, but these will only be offered on Cobras. The base model will have 16" wheels and GTs will have 18" wheels. The fuel door won't be on the back like on the concepts, but there will be a Mustang logo there. The fuel door will be on the side, and it won't be aluminum alloy.

There were spy photos posted by someone at a aftermarket supplier, and they kind of took the edge off the design, from what I could tell under the camoflage.
