If I Change my 6x9 do i need a new amp.
To get a set of 6x9 is very inexpensive and I can bet it will make a big improvement. Can it be down by leaving the stock amp connects to the new 6x9 and will it be better or worse? Second I wanted to know if I can just swap out the old speakers and put in the new ones easy as that, and it will work correctly?

no, you have to change everything or nothing, the factory system runs on an atypical ohm setting that is not standard on other manufacturers speakers....you will need a new amp and speakers and then wire that into the factory system...

I have a speaker for every amp in my car.
I have seen lots of post regarding atypical Bose speaker resistance and not being able to run aftermarket speakers. I am confused. I have MB PSC 216 at all four corners running off the stock deck and Bose amp without any problems. Sound is a big improvement over the Bose speakers... sacrifice is they can't get as loud given that the Bose amp doesn't have the power to drive the MB like they should, but a heck of a lot easier than installing an amp.

Well yes and no. I've been doing a search on the Bose system and it looks as though the stock speakers are 1ohm compared to typical 4ohm aftermarket speakers. This account for the db drop in my conversion.
2nd issue is speaker equalization. Bose eq's the system for their speakers in this car, so just adding aftermarket speakers could theoretically net you worse sound. Fortunately with speakers such as the MB, the crossovers have adjustable outputs for the tweets.. it helps. I am not getting as good of sound with the MB as I would with an external amp, but after spending a few days fiberglassing I didn't feel like doing any more to my system. All my power wires, etc are there, so maybe next week or the week after.

Find beauty in dissonance
The TL is not the exact same system. But, this person replaced his stock speakers with good results:

I believe he tried several speakers and found Polk were the best w/ stock amp.
His opinion is the stock Bose is 4 ohms.....

personally I'd run them with no amp cause with my Eclipse 6x9s in my Accord I run stright off the headunit and they sound pretty tight I think. Plus my g/f's brother(probably eventally my brother in law:P ) has a 01 Celica GT 5 speed and we are in the process of "riceing it out" he knows I'm a car audio specialist so he said to me " I don't have enough money for a new headunit but I want a little more bump than stock. I said go get stock size speakers and we'll drop them in. so we did and it sounds pretty good
