icebox problem

i tried to remove the cover to get to the filter and one of the bolts just spins. i guess the threaded nut in the lower section of the box is turning.

has anyone else had this problem? how did you fix it?

I drilled out the head and then pulled the insert. When reinstalled I used a self tapping screw.

I did the same. Actually, two of mine came out, one was stuck. I was able to stick a screw driver under the lid and pop it off (taking the screw out with it. But I have a self tapping screw in there now.

i just pulled the cover off...upwards. the bottom nuts will come out with the screws. as mentioned abve, if you can get an angle, use a screw driver then pry it open.

Happend to me also. I broke the bolt. Comptech sent me a new box under warranty though I did have to pay for shipping the old one back.

Happened to me recently too.

I still have yet to fix it. Not time for a filter change yet.

I honestly didn't feel like dealing with it now cause mine is the front screw that keeps spinning.

Maybe in the Spring.

yup. that's the first thing that happened to me. pulled the cover up and it came off. next, the two rear screws when i had my car serviced by acura. had to pull those two off. now when ever i check my filter, i just don't tighten the screws too much.

I'll have to take my battery out to get beside it and pry it open. I thought about that but didn't wanna damage my icebox doing so. I'll try it when the weather clears up.

I believe they did.

And I thought this wasn't anything new? I've heard of a few people talk about that who have the Icebox.

I had the same experience with my icebox in my RSX. Comptech sent me a replacement via air shipping to VA asap. They did send a return packing slip for the faulty unit too. Seems they are aware of the problem with this product across the model range, thus far though, I think their solution is to stress not over tightening the bolts.

Yup, I had this problem with my Icebox too. I basically had to rip the lid off, and the one screw that was stuck ripped out with the thread nut still around it. I took the thread nut off, pressed it back into the hole, and put in a new screw that was a little bit larger.

So has this problem been fixed? or is another one of those " it is what it is" problems?
