I Want Navi!!!!!!

Anyone have an Acura OEM Navi Unit they want to get rid of?!?!?!! I reallly want to put Navi in my car, but dont like any of the aftermarket kits out there. I tried going to a few local junkyards, but there were no CL's or TL's there....

I even tried searching on ebay, and couldnt find anything....So if anyone knows someone who has a unit theyre looking to get rid of, PleasE PM me and let me know!!!!

Thanks!!~

I second that motion! although, i have heard that to upgrade a car that originally did not have navigation in it, it is quite extensive the modifications that have to be done to it to retro-fit the car.

Any comments from more experienced members?

Yup, I tried retro-fitting my first 05 Sport Sedan Benz....they told me that I'd have to fork out nearly 7 grand and would be a total nightmare. They also told me that during the process if anything got messed up the factory warranty would be voided because I wanted the work done.

So you do the math.

I did ask around to other Benz dealerships too. They said the same thing.

Installing an OEM Acura naci in the CLs is tedious but not very expensive nor a nightmare. If you search the forums, there is a complete installation post with pics and lists all the parts that you will require to perform this modification.

It will not cost you 7Gs (like the merc) and it is quite achievable. The cost is around $1000 - $1200

It's been done. I purchased most of the parts that I needed to do it. But I ended needing the cash and sold it all. The buyer successfully installed it, but he knew what he was doing. It is a lot of work.

I did it another way.
My white/tan CLS/6MT was No Navi but I decided I wanted Navi. So I sold it and bought my current Anthracite with Navi. Sold my white one with 15k miles and got my anthracite with 7500 miles. With taxes etc cost me under $500 and I got a car with half the miles and better colors inside and out. Prices on CLs are low, I'd just sell and shop, it could take a while to find a 6 speed w/ Navi tho.

Should have bought a car with navi then... 123456peed did the conversion the most painless way possible...

Check out the A/V forum here:

https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/

There are links to detailed DIY installs in the FAQ sticky...

I've thought recently that navi would be nice to have, but I'll wait till the next car to get it...

My main reason was Color, white one became kinda boring looking and I hated the parchment interior, kinda an impulse buy cause it was used (certified) and a good deal, had 3k miles on it. THe 6 speeds were pretty new at that time so a used one was rare.

I sold the white one after a year for $24k, bought the anthracite for $23750, I think it was. So I got Navi, less mileage, spoiler, for mostly just a flight to OK and some taxes.

I liked the CLS/6MT so much I decided i wanted a loaded one, and liked that it was a rare car too.

but just for Navi, since the CLS Navi is a little dated I don't think I'd do it..

Good point... and even more reason why not to convert a non-navi car to navi...

To the original poster: If you really "need" navi (notice I didn't use the word "want"), then maybe one of these would work:

Hey, I would not mind selling you my navigation unit, i would have to take it out and so but i am not sure what would be the easiest way to do it, but hey let me know if anybody interested, it would be coming from 2001 cls by the way i would take your regularac controls.

if you have the time and patience it can be done. I was able to complete the switchover for a little over $1000.

For a little over a grand and how long did it take in all to install it? I would do it if your thinking of keeping your CL for a while but not if your going to turn around and sell it after 6 months or so. Not worth it IMO.

I was able to complete the install over a weekend but am not really sure how much time i spent researching and building the harness. I also am used to soldering and reading wiring schematics, so it may take some people a little longer. To me it was worth it because i knew that i would be able to pull it off. if you arent very skilled with electronics you may just want to settle for an aftermarket unit.
