Or just make it very simple & get the CT mufflers. Easy bolt on, deep sounding but not overly loud. And they look good.

Just Intake and Headers gets you pretty close, I had a Z owner here ask me what I had done and that it sounded just like a Z. I thought it sounded close but not exact, the extra torque gives a bit more of a "burble". Bottom line though, no matter who sounds better, from 40 roll to 80 I beat him. He was AT but still...

Shit! Didn't realize this was a CL thread... Who knows though, maybe someone has removed the mid muffler and replaced the resonator w/ dynomax on a CL.. The Intake and Headers will get you much closer to the real thing though

has anyone, besides cleancl, taken out and replaced the resonator only and kept the stock exhaust? (if you replaced resonator, headers and cat that would still count) anyone have sounds clips of this?

i searched and saw where some people talked about doing it but never anyone that for sure followed through.

go get the little bolt on kit where its electronically done.. i saw it on speed tv or something like that. Its where you stick some speakers out in the back and you have this device wired all the way to your drivers seat and you can pick all these options of different cars and their muffler sounds and it works as you accelerate or at a stand still... just a thought lol

Lol I took out the resonator and it sounded like I had Folgers cans for an exhaust system.

please dont do this. i like the sound of my headers and cai. i would like to do some exhaust work, but that will be later. im getting a RT high flow cat soon though. hopefully it will make it sound alitter better. thinking about also going with a comptech b-pipe if i can find one in the bm later

The G35, 350z, FX35, and Muranos all have the same 3.5 liter and similar exhaust systems (the Murano sounds less aggressive than the others though). I heard somewhere that the unique sound is from a combination of the high-torque engines and a unique exhaust design or something like that... I imagine it's extremely hard to replicate that sound.

mmmmmm... that glorious VQ35 sound..... Yah it's really hard to imitate it w/ J32s, they're just different, hell I was closer than any CL has been w/ my old VQ30.

If you really want to know how infiniti made there vehicles sound like that just simply pick up the phone and call them!! I am pretty sure you could use the info they give you as a guide to mod the CL. Or even better, I bet you could even look it up on the ole trusy internet, im sure you could at least find one article on this.

Thats impossible. You can't just replicate a sound using a totaly different engine. Ive heard many CL's sound way better than the g35's anyway.

Word. It's an entirely different beast... The CL is a CL, might as well stop pretending it's something else.

thank you. i hate how people underestimate the ack mainly b/c its FWD...our cars move, and we are definitely in the S2000, G35, 350z, and even STI range!! and no BS!! im serious, StI's and Evos whip anything [even some supercars] off of the line, but i know they have jack $hi! at the upper end where our VTECS roar!!!!!

sorry its a theory im working on, and it keeps on proving itself...pay attention now!

CAI plus Headers IMO sounds close to but better then a G35... more like a modded G35. in other words it sounds meaner then the stock G sound, not Ricey loud.

For sure man, I love the low rumbles. Hard to get that with a v6, but intake, headers, and a high flow cat should get you there.

No shit! All i was sayin was call the manaufacture and get the specs on the infiniti exaust. And i agree with u on the CL exaust over the G35, but they do have a distinct sound wich is appealing to most people, just as the CL has its distinct exaust note, I like the quieter creeping sound better anway.

And the OGs thought things were getting bad in the 2nd Gen CL section when I joined back in 2006. Look at it now. It's threads like these that make me want to go run and hide in Ramblings or Car Talk.
