I OFFICIALLY have the worst luck with the CL...

So... I got my car back from the bodyshop this past Friday. Even typed up a thread on how they painted the front bumpers' lower grill instead of leaving it black.

Anyway.... this is how my wonderful luck is:

Monday afternoon i'm at a stop sign behind a big pick-up truck with a long 4-car trailer hitched. I guess the truck went too far into the intersection, so he decided to back up. I was in the car with my girlfriend when all a sudden she screams as i look up and try to throw the car into reverse. Too late. The truck hit me. I was calmly upset, called the cops and filed the report. Luckily, the guy admitted fault to the officer and said he did, in fact, back up into my car....

So... you would think thats the end of my story, right? Wrong.

I wake up this morning to go to work, only to see THIS on the side of my car

I NEVER park my car in the street in front of my house, but sure enough... one of the few times I have... my car gets hit by some idiot driver. There was light green paint on the car, so i'm searching the neighborhood since my street is really only residential traffic.

I'm really bummed. I think my car is just bad luck. who gets hit two times in two days? the same cop took the report the two times and he just nodded his head in disbelief since he's seen my twice in 2 days.... ugh..

i've been at car dealers the entire day. i wanna get a new car now. I dont think its a good idea to keep it.

Went to subaru to look at the STI... eh... it was great on the outside, but the interior sucks balls. i cant go from my car to that. i just looked at the car, got turned off and left. didn't even talk to sales rep. Went to BMW... saw a new 04 carbon black m3.. too much... $56k, so i put $100 down (just in case) on a pre-owned 03 m3 smg/ 19" rims/ cold package/ prem package/ 9k miles/ blue/ $47k... might be a little overkill, but i know i'd be happy with the car if i got it. then went to the Acura dealer to run some numbers in the 04 TL/ 6 speed/ navi... $34,600... fuckers wanted to give me only $9500 for a trade with the damage on my car. comes to about $500 a month for a 60 month finance... too much for ANOTHER acura... FWD at that... another $200 a month would give me the bimmer....

anyway, i'm overwhelmed right now. i'm still undecided as to what i'm going to do... new car, pay out of pocket to fix the hit&run, or go thru insurance for them to fix the whole car. i'm inclined to get a new car, but dont know what would be the better decision. even considering fixing the car thru insurance and then selling it to get more on a trade....

any ideas? havent seen (priced out) the g35c or the 350z yet. i gotta weigh everything out.... i should just get a beater....

Me: Yes officer that's what happened. And as payment for the damage on my vehicle, I will accept the RX7 currently residing on said flatbed as compensation.

yuppie,
ouch that sux. Cheaper to keep your current car. Remember where you live. RWD would leave you stranded. How about the new legacy sedan from subaru? 250/250...nice power and AWD, nice interior as well.

Let's hope this bad luck doesn't carry over to your next car.

Sorry to hear about this happening but i'd wait and look for a new car at the end of the summer. Lots of good deals around that time.

Get it fixed and trade it in or sell it. You'll get raped by the dealers if it has damage.

the bimmer dealer by my job in jersey actually called me while i was at the dealer after i got off the phone with u. the rep had mentioned something about some older guy trading in the m for a newer 5 series, but i didn't think he'd call me same day. i gave him my cc# over the phone so he could hold the car for me until i figure out what i wanna do. he was actually really cool and sooo not like the typical cocky bmw salesperson.

baggage out of town huh? nice, i'm off on friday. hit me up.

damn man, thats what happened when i owned nissans. my 1st i only had 3 months, my 2nd was a maxima, someone hit it with only 700 miles on it and then i got bumped in the bronx at the world series(i wasnt going to fight that one) and then i got hit in another parking lot.
thankfully it was only bumper damage. i dunno how since i park in the fawkin boonies.
lastly my frontier. i broke one of the fender supports going apeshit in the snow(that was awesome)
in front of our last apartment, i had some fatass scrape the front bumper with his suburban, the other neighbor i found his car still running under the bumper of my truck. and then someone bumped the side of the bed and pushed it in AND multiple dings on the rear bumper. it was hit at least 6 times in one year from ass hole neighbors

i traded in for the cl and havent had a problem since.

sometimes you neeed to get away from a certain make, like their cursed

I agree with the other members hold off either for 05 models to come out or later on in the year when you can get a better deal on the cars you are interested in. I'm sorry for your misfortune with your ride but I share in your pain I've had bad luck with my ride as well. Pushed in fender while at a parking lot, cracked windshield rock from a truck, and banged up bumper I don't know how the f*!k that happened but I'm waiting to hear word from Rondog and the kit hes working on to get things fixed, But anyway good luck with whatever you decide on!

Don't do anything quickly. Just try to relax. I have had stretches of bad luck with cars that made me wonder if I ticked of God. I would consider getting the car fixed. The front will be covered by insurance and maybe the shop will cut you a deal for the other side/back.

I play golf and when you go through a period of "bad luck" while playing it's actually good because going forward your luck will be better. I think your luck will be better going forward.

sorry to hear it. i believe that some cars have a karma for crashes.......

my ol' mazda pick-up had a bad karma for crashes. it was rear-ended at least 4 times a year as long as i had it. it was also broad-sided twice. fortunately no one was injured and the damage wasn't serious enough to put it out of commission. just a pain it the a$$. i did have to replace the rear axle after the 2nd broad-side. it was bent to bad to keep driving. its the only repairs i did from any of the wrecks. i just pocketed whatever insurance re-imbursements i received for the next truck.

hope you car doesn't have the same karma as my little mazda did. its more than you or the car should have to bear.
