If you're looking for a real torqueaholic RWD convertable, the V8 mustang is a probably the way to go. Heck, I'm a ford guy, the CLS is my first import

I must admit I like the '05 Mustang. It sounds like they even made an attempt at improving the interior quality as well. I don't like the fact it still doesn't have independent rear suspension. I haven't heard much about the tranny options. hopefully Ford has entered the 21st century unlike GM.
The word is that the production 2005 Mustang looks very similar to the concept cars with the following exceptions. There will be no hood scoops on the V-6 or GT models. The 2006 Cobra may get functional hood scoops. The production version will seat four. The side scoop won't be a scoop at all; it will be a scallop, and fully integrated into the side stamping. The roof will be standard stamped steel--no glass. The quarter panel will have glass instead of body colored insert--rear visibility would've been awful. The convertible won't get the rollbar, and the windshield will be taller. The taillights won't be as wide, and they will have a tri-cell design like 1999-2004 taillights. They will flash sequentially. The concept cars have 20" wheels, but these will only be offered on Cobras. The base model will have 16" wheels and GTs will have 18" wheels. The fuel door won't be on the back like on the concepts, but there will be a Mustang logo there. The fuel door will be on the side, and it won't be aluminum alloy.

A Mustang with exhaust sounds unbelievable too...I heard a Cobra the other day. A few of us were going to lunch and this Mustang goes by and punches it. This guy I work with and me just looked at eachother and he said. "Damn that car sounds good!" It was unreal. Nothing like a good ole V8.

convertible and sports car doesnt really go together though, the chassis isnt as stable as a non drop top car.
but then i just hate fords. sure you can make them fast in a straight line, but why?
I mean hell a S2000 has all the qualities you just listed and wouldnt break down on you as much as a ford.
i also think the car looks like it has down syndrome. but thats just personal.

S2000 is for tiny people. Anyone over 5-10 is in for serious trouble driving that thing.
The Ford(like them or not) is full sized & more practical than the little Honda.

if youre talking about sports cars. let us not go into the honda and acura family cars vs the ford family cars.
but if youre getting a two seater, youre not really concerned with passengers..

It looks like a really solid ride just from the pics. But something just isn't quite right, it lacks something or has a little too much of something for my tastes. I wanna say it's the cool oldschool front end lean, mixed with the uber-straight lines.

yeah my 3000gt is like a 2+2. the only thing those seats are good for is holding stuff. because adults dont fit back there.
oh oh, theyre good for adding weight too.
cause i think mitsubishi was trying to design a good looking tank for the army or something.

Now the current 'vert is a 2+2 also. Is the next generation Mustang 'vert going to only be available as a 2 seater ??
It just doesn't make sense to me that Ford would have a 2 seat mustang convertible and a 4 seat hardtop mustang coupe.
It's late, I'm tired, I'm going to bed

Well .. I wouldn't really say that Acura is high on the 'quality list' .. the '03 CL-S in my garage is not what I would consider a "quality" vehicle between the brakes .. rattle box interior .. cheap leather .. poor idle .. recall on the water pump .. recall on the ignition .. recall on the tranny (for those with autos) .. I don't think Ford could do much worse

owned a 93' probe...the car was total garbage. I hope ford has improved but they still owe me 17k for driving that piece of shit around for 3 years. Much of that 3 years was spent in the same teal green with pink pin stripe 'ASPIRE' loaner micro-bubble they put me in. Oh boy did the bitches love that thing.
Sorry, ford gets a thumbs down from me. I don't care how good this thing looks.

I liked the hard top concept a lot too. I'd definitely consider one for my next car, especially if they offer a sequential gearbox for the Cobra in a year or two. And they are researching them according to October's Motor Trend; using technology Ford developed for the Vanquish.

Nicky, did you get any production photos or just the same concept pics that have been around for a while? I know I like the concept, but you never know about the car till you see a production version.
