I HATE NY ROADS! got some nice damage!

I was getting off the whitestone bridge on my way back from the bronx yesterday morning, and it goes 2 lanes into 1 to get on the cross island, and just my luck i'm in the right lane driving normal!(for the first time) and BAM my lanes all snow as i'm doing 50mph around a turn, i bounced off the curb about 3 times(i have my rims on now cuz my stock tires have no tread left), completely chunked up my rims and fucked up my bumper. all i have to say is FUCK NYC and their non working road workers. AND instead of fixing the potholes they just put cones around it to create more traffic

BTW: JUST HIT 1000 POSTS!

That sucks man...i remember driving over whitestone when i moved a buddy of mine up there, except for the snow and i was in a big ass Penske truck, those potholes were no match that thing ....my buddies got a new 325ci and he says he hates driving to the city for that main reason, shitty roads, he's already got two chunked up rims as well...

Hey Rob... That's where I live. I know that turn too well. It's horrible with the pot holes and the degree of the turn. When I take it, I usually do it at 20-30mph at most. I remember PGATOUR was in an explorer that flipped there.

Sorry to hear that man! My condolences!

The roads seriously suck.

They were just "fixing" the potholes on the West Side Highway around the GWB. All they do is dump hot loose asphalt and tamp it down a bit. It lasts only as long as it takes first truck to hit it and scatter it back out onto the roadway. Might just be safer to leave the cones in it.

Honestly, I'd rather have a cone in a pothole then nothing at all.

The post-snow potholes here in the Philly are horrific. Philly has the WORST care of their city streets of any city I've lived in (or it may be an artifact of living in the North East). I've lived through plenty of winter weather, but have never seen streets in such disarray. I wonder if there really is a Dept. of Street Maintanence?

I hit a pothole two days ago at about 20 MPH on a secondary road. It was night and unlit, and I didn't see the hole until too late. It seemed like I fell into a deep pit! I was sure that I hurt something, but luckily, my CL-S seems to be unscathed.

I would have appreciated something. Some effort at all. A metal grate, an orange cone, some dirt in the hole.

What does my city tax go to?

but thats the thing cusdaddy i was next to a van and i was in the slow lane being cautious. I drive like a douchebag and nothing happens its retarded. and then the jerkoff in the van had the nerve to BEEP at me as i was smacking into the curb, i wanted to do some serious damage to his face. and the Grand Prix in front of me fishtailed but by that time it was too late for me to see what happened.
P.S. Shaun-the every road was completely drive except for 20 feet of the right lane around a curve.

Yeah messed up. I bent a rim on a rental on the Belt coming from JFK. I know it was bent, felt it. Returned it that way. That was christmas. I couldn't believe the gaping holes in the left, & right lanes.

I hear ya Rob... It's just really shitty around there right now after all of the snow and ice. Hopefully they patch some of those holes up quickly. Too late for you though. At least you didn't get hurt!

I am borrowing my parents 03 Accord for the next few weeks, because I am sure the 18's on the Z will get wrecked driving around NYC.

Yes you can, but the odds that you'll collect are quite slim.

I wouldn't jump right to a law suit (probably a waste of time and money anyway). I'd first write a letter or talk to the people responsible.

If you feel so inclined you can write to the people responsible for the road in question (it may be the city, township, state, county -- you may need to do some 'homework' to figure that out) and include copies of receipts and see what happens. You have nothing to lose.

I have driven over the Whitestone bridge many times on business trips (going from LaGuardia up to Stamford CT for meetings). All I can say about that road and I-95 in general is thank god for rental cars...the potholes are horrendous!! Alignment shops must do a booming business...

you only can sue if the pothole is already registered with town(fat chance)

i blew 2 tires this season too, thats why i was looking for wheels/tires in black market

i called up michelin and complained

get this

they are sending me a check for 35 % of what i spent on replacement tires $140

Hey, I fucked up two rims myself due to one pothole here in DC. I feel for you RobG, 'cause my insurance didn't help me much when I told them about it. Now I have to get all new 18"s because they don't make my rims anymore - now Ain't that a bitch?!?!

Ordered it a few weeks back, but I am picking it up on Friday. I lowered my monthly payments by over $200 and my CL was over 2 years old and getting a little loose (rattles), so I decided to get the Z.

I'll be at E-Town. We definitely have to race. I already have a challenge with Lou

I feel your pain!!!! NY Roads suck all year round.. but especially in the winter!!! NY was not prepared for a big snow storm either, they were quick at clearing roads but did a shit job doing so!!!!

My goal after the storm of '03.. to move to North Beach Miami in maximun 2 years!
