I'm on my way home from work, and surprise... I get stopped by a traffic light. What happened next I will NEVER forget.

A black Monte Carlo SS pulls up next to me. I'm not paying any attention to this guy, and all of a sudden he beeps his horn. So I turn down my radio, because he's looking right at me saying something...

This dude had Dale Earnhart stickers all over his car and EVEN had the Goodyear Nascar tires on his Monte Carlo.

Now... Before I go any further, picture the guy from "King of the Hill", Dale Gribble.



In the exact same voice and kind of looked like him too. :P

Me: "I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you. My radio was up a bit."

Him: "Come on boy, let's run."

Me: "Excuse Me?"

Him: "Come on boy, let's RUN. I've taken your kind of cars before."

I'm not sure why I did what I did, but I started laughing. I mean I laughed right at him. I wasn't trying to be mean or anything, but I just started laughing. Not a little giggle. I laughed. And laughed and laughed...

The light turned green and the dude floored it and took off. I just sat there for a couple of seconds just thinking of what a dipass the guy was. Giggled a bit, and went on my way.

I never caught up to him, but I still don't know if I lined up with him again, what I would have done. I'd probably start laughing again, and blow it.

There are some real characters that live around here. Morons in V6 Mustangs that think the own the world, and people like this guy. LOL.

I agree, by what you said, he sounded like an ass. Do u think you could have taken him? You can shoe horn a 350 LT1 or 454 LS6 in those G-bodies, so maybe he did something serious under the hood?

Yeah, it was the newest body style. And by the way he pulled away, it didn't seem like he was packin' anything other than a stock setup.

I guess some people just don't have any idea when it comes to cars. My luck, I'll probably run into him today since I took my wife's car ('01 Alero GLS) to work today. Although, I still should be able to beat him. That Alero is surprisingly quick.


This still makes me laugh... The voice... I can't get it out of my head. :P

Heh Heh!! if you only knew the power of the dark side You gotta love GNs I know I love mine the new 3.8l 3800 sucks the GM guys are really killing a legend they're even bringing back the GNX as a supercharged front drive next year even if it does have 340 horse it's still an insult to a true legend. I think I'll stick to my poor little 560 horse turbo GN. By the way great no kill, it's guys like that, that prove you don't have to drive an Import to be a ricer of course here we call em wheat

Grand Nationals have long been one of my favorite cars. In a way, a bit of a sleeper I guess. A LOT of people just look at them and think SLOW. BOY are they WRONG. I wish you lived closer so I could meet up with you. Must be a sweet ride. Post pics if you have any.

Thanks 2001AudiS4 it's still a work in progress I hope to get it into the paint booth soon the car was completely stock with 54,000 miles when i bought it so it needs a little tlc I hope ot have some pics soon

Cool, good luck with it. Definitely post some pics when you get some. It is weird, I always liked the GN's, but never cared for the Turbo Regals. Same car, different paint. To me, it makes all the difference.

I had a similar situation where this guy in a new Monte SS with Nascar Stickers all over it pulled up next to me at a stoplight. The guy looked over at me and smiled, but didn't say anything. He had S#*!kicker written all over him.

When the light changed we both got on it, and I walked away from him so easily. It wasn't even a challange. The next light came up and I had to stop. He was behind me trying to pace the green. When the light changed we both floored it again. Since he was already moving and I was completely stopped he blew right past me, but by 70 I passed him again. It then got a little weird. After I passed him we came to the next light. The other lane was taken so he was behind me. When it changed I didn't feel like racing, cause I knew what was going to happen. He then rode my bumper. I got on it and no matter what I did he would catch up and ride my bumper. What a Hole!!!! I eventually turned and he kept going.

Unless this guy was driving a Monte from days past (i.e. 350 small block), you are truly a pussy. Those new 'Carlos are nothing but sheet metal and paint.
