I got my Headlights painted Nighthawk Black Pearl [ pics ]

Well, I got my headlights done

I had to do away with the chrome look, but wanted something different than just the stock 03’s.

So, Here they are painted Nighthawk Black Pearl.

What sets them apart from the stock 03’s is the chrome sides, clear diffusers and the body color match. So, do the look all right?

Nate those look so HOTT !!!!! I need to see them installed ..... I like the fact that they look different than the 03's no need in looking the same as everyone else. Nate too bad I just got my 02' heads replaced with new ones from the dealer and they didn't want to give me the 03' Good sheet nate

I could have had them painted San Marino Red all the same, that would probably stand out more on by black car

They are close tho, the average person wouldn't tell and thats cool with me

That looks HOT. Whoever did it did a nice job.

How much was that and can you do it yourself?
What kind of paint was used?

darrinb, the ones on the left (above) are on Jake CL's car, they are stock 03 and cleared.
Mine are in Texas, they just got out of the Acura paint shop today.

I assume your car is NBP correct?....otherwise looks good, but i prob couldnt tell the difference from afar from the stock 03's...though i do like the clear defuser.

Nate!

This is something I've been wanting to do to mine, I have mine painted silver (check 'My Photos') on a NBP CL-S. Did you have a spraycan made up, or did you take the housings to a shop to get done? How long were you without lights?

Also, not to steal a thread, but I have used the Silicone II (GE) to seal my headlights, and one light KEEPS FOGGIN UP! What have you guys used to reseal your lights once you clear them?

I thought somebody on the board actually got the same stuff Acura used orginally, any ideas? I'm going to reseal my lights soon, and nate, I would love to bite your idea

LOOKS GREAT!

Yo E- man I've seen your car, those lights you painted looked nice I sent these to a shop to be done so I have been w/o them about two weeks, your right tho, a spray can could be made up in matching color. Here is one place that will do that for you: http://www.towerpaint.com/index2.html

What I've heard is that the best way to clear/reseal is the the oven method. Let it warm up to the temp. 225 with the lights already in. Don't preheat. They should slowly pull apart. When you put them together again, reheat the old sealant to use again. Just add new sealant around it to sthengthen it up.
I don't know the exact sealant being used, I think the honda sealant some people are using is hondabond.

Hey, good luck man. Another color I considered was gunmetal.. may look hott w/ matching wheels

ooooo I didn't even think of using Gunmetal, that would be great! I have already taken my lights apart and resealed them twice (using the oven method). Is there really such a thing as Hondabond? (rediculous name!) And where can I get it (hondabond.com ) Seriously, if that is a real product, I'd love to get my hands on it!

Obviously, they had to prime the housings, do you know what they used to reseal your headlights?

Thanks for notes on my silver housings, (I actually stole that idea from Soopa, i'm nothing but a theif of good ideas )

do a search for on the net, I was amazed how many times it came up. Primarily used as an engine sealant tho, I think

my lights needed to be stripped around the chrome painted area/ primered / then paint. O3's could skip the stripping part which is a b*tch.

this idea is not a new one either, Acura is acutally offering painted headlights for the TL-S "A-Spec" editions in colors NBP and ABP only.

What is the "A-Spec!?" I have never heard of that, I'm going to have to search for this.

BTW...I found the hondabond, and I'm going to go to my honda motorcylce dealer to try and pick some up tonight, I think that will solve my "fogging" issues...Appreciate your help.

Thanks- The lights make a huge difference, and I was hesitant but the difference in looks is much more in line with the aggressive look I wanted for the front so I’m glad I did

the grille is more subtile but good looking, now I just need to do something with the empty fog spaces
